I’m not sure 42% approval is a disaster. In Europe that wold be an amazing result. Even in USA with all the gerrymandering, voter suppression laws and constitution in general giving advantage to red states that could be enough for them to win another term. Protests are becoming more frequent around here, even in the cold Southerners are not prepared for. This weekend I drove under a FUCK ICE protest on an overpass, with a FUCK ICE sticker on my car, to a store and passed a panhandler with a giant FUCK THE POLICE sign. Then my Mexican neighbors reached out to thank me for putting the sticker on my car. I feel a sense of alignment around me. I’m in Arkansas of all places. (I’m omitting quite a bit of anti-trans shit this weekend but that’s another story).
I’m a school bus driver and I drive across multiple freeway overpasses each day. On most days these have protestors with temporary signs up on the fences facing the highway traffic. The problem is I have no idea whether they’re pro-Trump or anti-Trump since I only see the backs of the signs. One time I could make out “Jan. 6” on one of the signs (this was on January 6th, natch) but I don’t know whether they were remembering the good old days or not.
There’s a guy on an overpass many mornings with a cardboard sign that is unreadable from the ground, I know what it says because I drive by him above (Deport Trump), but we do need some workshops on “how to make your sign readable because it’s worthless without that simple thing.”
I really feel that this latest poll will finally start the fire that burns his “Whitehouse of doom” down. /s

I’ll assume you’re not smart enough to see it, but we’re going bankrupt. No one in charge cares about you unless you make them money. So when you can’t get food or water, you should have worked harder and been rich. But hey, no more trans and gays and brown people bringing in drugs or offending your easily manipulated eyes.

Here in the UK, we were promised millions per week for the NHS, better jobs and “oven ready deals” to replace our relationship with the EU. Over 50% of people who voted fell for that bullshit. Some are upscaling to the further right Reform (UKs equivalent to MAGA). Telling bold lies will fool too many people, again and again. We cannot sit back. Spend a half hour watching Fox News and you can see the alternate reality that magats are living in. My personal exposure to Fox News is an occasional accidental glance at the TV screens at the gym and even just from that it’s obvious what’s going on.

I recently overheard a conversation between two people complaining about how, after the election, their friends unfollowed anyone who followed Trump.
Their argument was “I only voted for one issue. It’s not like I have time to know everything.”
It was an aggravating interaction, but also a strong reminder of just how ignorant the average voter is.

Or voted with their “tribe” and know next to nothing about that tribe’s decades long platform, Taco’s specific agenda, Project 2025’s agenda, or the conservative “movement” that underlies all of it.
Or they were simply racist AF and thought all the undesirables were going to be whisked away as if by magic and without any kind of visible consequences like women shot and children gassed. Or they thought he “didn’t really mean it” but he’s a miracle-worker on the economy…
But that’s because Trump speaks in open ended words like - freedom, patriot, illegal. People create their own narrative for what those words mean, and apply it to Trump and then are surprised that their definition doesn’t match trumps… I mean they can’t know everything right? /s

I went and looked at the profile of a real life trumper who is no longer a friend, on a social media site that I also mostly avoid, and they are openly supporting ICE.
Their justification is literally “imagine if you or your loved one was killed by an illegal” after listing a random list of names of people who were supposedly killed by “ILLEGALS.” But it’s a 3-paragraph post written by somebody who seems to think they are very clever for coming up with a weak metaphor for “imagine if somebody got some shit instead of you” so it’s probably just a copypasta from some grifter they follow.
