  • It really is insane to me that in all the world there’s only been one guy (Luigi, allegedly) bold enough to do something about this absurd level of inequality. Think about how many people get murdered for such petty reasons every day, and yet we all look at a few dozen people sitting on literal mountains of cash while thousands of people starve to death and all we do is shrug or wag a finger. Statistically you would expect at least a handful of people to have the right combination of fury and lack of self preservation instincts to take a shot at them and yet here we are. What a wild place to live this planet is.

  • I keep seeing this idea float around that there is some perfect organizational method to government that will prevent corruption. I don’t think that’s possible. All forms of government rely on the people involved acting in good faith. At the end of the day there are only two things that keep any governmental system functioning as intended:

    1. the internal moral judgment of government officials (for those that have morals)
    2. fear of consequences (for those that have no morals)

Clearly the US is currently dealing with those who have no morals, which means the primary problem is that they do not fear consequences. It is incumbent on the citizens to ensure #2 is in place, in the absence of #1. The US is failing miserably in that respect.

  • You can’t solve the problem on your own and that’s the point. Instead of just driving past those protesters go join them. Invite others to go with you. Start a new organization of some kind in your community or volunteer with an existing one. Do whatever is in your power to do.

Victory over fascism is not something that can be bought from Amazon. It requires active participation. The action is less important than the participation. Just pick something and do that until you find something better.
