Former Trump campaign chairman and White House chief strategist Steve Bannon told his podcast viewers that Republicans should take Tuesday night’s losses to heart, saying: “The midterms start tonight, and the warning signs are flashing.” He observed that “Democrats just flipped two Georgia commissioners,” marking “their first statewide wins in 30 years.”

Far-right influencer Mike Cernovich (who spawned the “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory) tweeted: “Ted Cruz and Mark Levin are walking Trump into impeachments and then prison. 2026 will be a blood bath.” MAGA podcaster Jack Posobiec likewise warned that “2026 will be worse if we don’t course-correct.”

The longest government shutdown in US history came from Trump and he still got voted back in because people didn’t want a South Asian woman as president. And now we have that shutdown record broken again.

The fact that he won the Latino, Muslim and Black vote and now they’re acting surprised by the mass deportations, ICE raids and tariffs he’s been imposing is peak “Leopards Ate My Face” material.

Do your caretakers know you’re on the internet without supervision? If you think Trump “won the Latino, Muslim and Black vote” tell them you need more meds because whatever you’re on isn’t working.

Trump got the majority of precisely one demographic: White people. The same demographic who always vote for Republicans.

Sick. Just what many people have been wanting to happen. Let’s have a war! This would give people a real reason to live. Much more of a reason than America’s dead end job slave industry.

Push for Dwayne Johnson or Taylor Swift as the Democratic nominee.

At risk of sounding like I’m dick riding, Vance has all the cunning and charisma to fill the power vacuum. He’s just lacking that “too stupid to talk to” quality that most Maga voters find relatable, but given the spotlight he could probably hit those notes they like.

It kind of is good Kirk got slimed because he’s the only other I could think of that did all the poses they like and was also too stupid to be told anything.

Vance is politically quite savvy. He’s shallow and inauthentic and I think he’s smart enough to know that is a huge disadvantage following Trump. If he leans in to the memes, which it seems like he’s already doing, he’s a legitimate threat in 28. He’s built a career on being groomed by maga goons and it’s paid off so far.

Dems can make some huge gains if they have a working class message. Plan on holding Trump/ICE accountable for their actions and not be Israel simps. It isn’t hard. Trump and Steve Bannon keep hinting at some plan if they lose so it won’t be easy even with Trump being the worst.

The fact that they have a golden opportunity right now convinces me of the fact that they will fumble the absolute fuck out of it. They already went to war against mamdani. Any progress will be in spite of the D party.

Did you see the part where the defacto leader of the party didn’t show up to his own press conference, so the reporters asked Bernie (who was just watching from the back) if he’d answer questions?

The Democratic establishment fought Mamdani (and progressives generally) along with Trump and the oligarchs and lost massively. Both parties are in chaos right now, because it’s obvious that money is no longer enough to win elections, even safe ones

They’re all going to be quiet for a while before the other shoe drops, hopefully the infighting will make it easier for progressives to rise to prominence

Any progress is not going to come from the top of the Democratic Party down. They lead by following. They’ll slowly, and at first, probably ineffectually, react to external events. In a year or so, they’ll be claiming credit for anything Mamdani achieves. And the centrists will attempt a rug-pull whenever they get a chance.

hopefully the infighting will make it easier for progressives to rise to prominence

This is the real and probably only hope. If progressives thrash the establishment dems hard enough, they’ll at least pay lip service to them.

They will go to unimaginable lengths to learn the wrong lessons, don’t get me wrong. And they’re doing their very best

They’re testing literally everything except being more progressive… Everything from working with MAGA and bringing out Obama

But none of their bizarre mixing and matching of everything imaginable, including testing fucking Hunter Biden for a presidential run, have paid off at all

I just think it’s finally obvious, and urgent, enough that the leadership is going to turn over. At the end of the day, the leadership might be willing to go down with the ship over this, but the rank and file won’t

My Spidey Sense tells me he’ll start a war in the next 12 months then get the Supreme Court to side with him on postponing elections during wartime, and then we’ll stay in a permanent state of war afterwards.

No. A presidential election has never been postponed … EVER. There were elections even during the Civil War.

Trump can try this route to stay in office… but he will not be president and his wartime rule will only be as strong as the guards around him. He will become a domestic threat to the Constitution if he tries to stay in office unelected.

Nope. When I said quietly, I meant it… This got very little media attention. Also, search is pretty much dead at this point, I can’t find shit I read a week ago - there’s too many results around Jan 6 no matter how specific I query it

But essentially, the top brass created a voicemail for trump, there’s a bunch of deleted texts between the military and secret service, and then Trump was conspicuously absent during the handover process

Why just talk about the major elections? Majority of what could be voted for was the center leaning left to far left people and measures/bills. This is even bigger than what outlets make it seem to be. Local elections matter.

Never underestimate what the GQP will do to prevent anything resembling a fair election. They will purge voter registrations by the millions, gerrymander district maps to make them look like spider webs, and make registering and voting damn near impossible.

Republicans will burn the country to the ground to remain in power.

A foreign war? They can try, but we don’t cancel elections for foreign wars, and it won’t give maga much of a boost in elections.

        A civil war against Americans?

I don’t think they’d try, but if they did they’d fail. Like not just lose the war, they’d fail to start it.

Unarmed NG in a handful of cities is about all he can manage. Like, the only group he might be able to get to open fire on crowds is ICE, and even cops hate ICE more than they hate protesters.

If they thought they could do it, they’d have done did it by now.

They’ll be a last minute desperate attempt, but nothing will materialize

            It’s not just blind optimism…

There a lot, like a mind-blowing amount, of various reasons the US would be impossible to occupy, especially by a domestic force.

Like even protests, if they start cracking down we can just spread out.

Stop making protest happen downtown, and spread them out in the suburbs all around the city.

Spread the cops too thin, they’ll be too scared to do anything. Especially if protesters have vest and rifles.
