They have no path to win midterms, and they will run first. Funny thing is that they literally have nowhere to run. 🤣

The republicans have a clear path to win, the election is a toss up between the two parties at this point.

If the Democrats just assume public anger will mean they are going to win the midterm then they’re doomed. Despite everything Republican support is holding in the polls. Things are so polarised that Republican voters will seemingly accept anything of their party rather than accept a Democrat.

1/3 support dems, 1/3 support republicans. The key is the 1/3 of voters who are not engaged in politics or hate both parties. The only way the dems can win the midterms is getting off their arses and speaking to those voters. But rightly, those voters are fed up with the shit fest that is US politics.

The midterms are going to be down to the wire, and sadly I wouldn’t be surprised if the republicans win.

The dems have to engage the left they have completely alienated. The people on the edge of their overton window that think the dems are a complete and total failure and also invoke Godwins law every time a GOP policy is duscussed. Instead the dems think the people they need to seek are the centerists… And well… Look what that got them last time.

I have zero faith in the American public to do the right thing. We can blame Trump and the leaders all we want but I don’t know a single person who voted for Trump 2.0 and regrets it even though I live in an 80+% Trump district that is getting completely fucked by tariffs. As a country we are just too fucking stupid to get out of this shit.

I’m sorry, but Doomerism has to die.

The only call-to-action I get from this kind of comment inspires is “give up & go home evryone; your fate is to suffer”

My intention with my own comment is to ask people to please keep the defeatist comments to yourself.
If you aren’t saying anything informative or supportive in Public discourse, what are you actually putting into the Public’s mind?

I was hopefully until the DNC decided to run Janet Mills against Susan Collins. They gave her early support and the people of Maine no other option. IMHO the democrats are throwing the election early, so not sure what’s going on in your contested district, but I’d be big money on Susan Collins win here.

I’m pretty doubtful, a month or two ago there was a poll saying faith in the DNC was at an all time low. People aren’t just going to wake up en mass because things are bad: this whole admin is just a replay of 2016-2020 but with a little extra shark jumping, and they STILL reelected Trump’s ass and put GOP in a 53 senate majority.

Then, even if a blue wave sweeps the midterms? So what? Only 20 GOP senators are up for reelection, the DNC have 45 and 2 Independents, they can’t remove trump without replacing every single GOP an that is beyond improbable.

We only need to control house or senate to start reining him in hard. By 2028 the economy will be in ruins and he will be ineligible to run no matter what he says or more likely dead due to his own health problems.

There is every reason to believe we can take house senate and presidency in 2028.

Remember even in his first term the GOP lost the midterms.

His first term was bad, but not nearly as bad. We didn’t have military occupation of our own cities. We didn’t have masked men abducting people off the streets into unmarked vans. We didn’t have a trade war with practically every other country. We didn’t have massive inflation after a prior year of massive inflation. We didn’t have suspension of food security. We didn’t have farmers being undermined by all this while a huge bailout is done to a foreign country. We weren’t mobilizing our military for an apparent invasion.

So the Democrats might have a chance. Removal from office may not be on the table, but at least some check on executive power might be exercised. We may be stuck with a PJ2025 executive branch for at least the next couple of years after that, but at least maybe there can be some mitigation. It’s at least worth a try.

Depressingly I wouldn’t characterize the last decade of elections as being as much a Republican or Democratic loss as much as pretty much every single election being a loss for whomever the perceived incumbent of the time.

I’m in Maine and the democrats picked the worst challenger they could find to upset Susan Collins. Once again they have failed to cultivate a decent group of candidates to win over an important senate seat. They’re going to throw in someone loyal to the party that they can control, and it will cost them an election.

note, i would not forgive a vote for mccain. he gave a voice to the crazy wing of his party by letting palin be his running mate. if not for him, the tea party might not have happened, and we might not even have had to be in this mess.

I mean shit, that would be the wise thing to do. I probably would too if I was worried about investigations into all the war crimes I committed, all the rights I violated, all the documented abuse and negligence, and all the humans that have died or gone missing in their fucking detention centers. Not to mention all the money they’ve clearly stolen, and contracts they’ve violated.

I was actually thinking that’s probably the real reason Stephen Miller sold his house rather than he was threatened bc “radical leftists” wrote mean messages in chalk on his sidewalk.

When have republicans ever given a shit? Furthermore when have dems ever actually held these criminals to actual criminal account?

Please. Nothing will happen because the Supreme Court will back Trump. Trump will pardon them.

The only possible path to accountability is if Democrats take control of Presidency/House/Senate in 3.5 years. And even then I doubt anything will be done in the name of “healing the nation”.

    Pretty funny theory.

What are all these white liberals going to do when the elections are blatantly stolen and republicans galvanize their stranglehold on America next year?

Repugs are going to lie and say they won fairly, and the corporate news media will 100% back them up on that lie. Seriously libs, what are you going to do then? Gonna just try to get em next time in ‘28?..

Dem voters are going to do absolutely nothing.

They didn’t do shit when GWB created “Homeland Security” and the Patriot Act. They did nothing to stop the Tea Party. They didn’t do shit when Citizens United passed. They did nothing when Russia installed a puppet in the White House a decade ago. They did nothing when he stole classified documents. They did nothing when he was convicted of multiple felonies. They did nothing when the president’s top advisor did a sieg heil in front of the entire country. They did nothing when he started calling the national guard into US cities. They did nothing when he named The Department of War. They did nothing when he demolished the east wing…

There is no resistance. They did 2 fucking “peaceful” parades in 4 months. US liberals are a bigger problem than MAGA voters at this point and deserve whatever they get.

All “normal” routes were already lost as of Jan. 20th when they took power and threw away the Constitution. With one party and the SCOTUS on their side it’ll be almost impossible to dislodge them using peaceful means. There may still be a chance to save what scraps of democracy remain at the state and local levels and try to rebuild from there but to succeed that way will take a generation or more.

It’s irritating to see all these pundits talk about, “well, when the Dems are back in power …” They’re the ones who are supposed to know what’s going on. If they really believe it’s going to work that way, they’re in total denial.

It would be great for America if Thiel, Miller, Bezos, and the rest of the gang left. Problem is, they become an issue for whichever nation hosts them.

Hopefully it is Argentina that they exile themselves to.
