Kamala Harris will receive protection from the California Highway Patrol after Trump revoked her Secret Service protection, law enforcement sources said Friday.
California officials put in place a plan to provide Harris with dignitary protection after Trump ended an arrangement that gave his opponent in last year’s election extended Secret Service security coverage.
Trump signed a memorandum on Thursday ending Harris’ protection as of Monday, according to sources not authorized to discuss the security matter.
I mean, the FBI is totally compromised at this point anyways. I wouldn’t count on them protecting me if I was the political opposition to Mango Mussolini.

Permanent protection services like Secret Service wouldn’t be formed until McKinley’s assassination, until then it was generally a mixture of private guards and yes, sometimes military units, but it wasn’t common for them to be permanent details.

It feels morally wrong to say I would have liked to have kicked that can another few decades down the road, but I would really have liked that as opposed to personally watching the downfall of my nation live and in color.

It’s kind of weird how the CHP has become a hammer for things distinctly not about the highway. Got crime in Oakland? Send in the CHP with video cameras. Got homelessness? Send in the CHP to do a sweep. Need security? Send in the CHP. That being said this is the least offensive unorthodox use Newsome has used the CHP for.
CHP is california’s state law enforcement agency, since “merging” with CSP (state police) in the 1990s.
