But averages don’t tell the full story: Middle-income and lower-income Americans’ wages stopped outpacing inflation last year, according to Bank of America.
As if the first go around wasn’t telling enough. But, hey, at least the plutocracy has another tax cut that they bought and paid for.
I honestly don’t understand how the US is viable after everthing that has happened.
- Jim Crow maps used in the south
- President and friends are slashing all social programs
- Supreme court’s corrupt use of laws and the interpretation.
We are fucked. P.s. so is the world
You know who else didn’t care about life being not affordable? Most of the 76% of Americans who bitch about no one caring that life was not affordable and voted Republican.
Thanks guys!
Interesting. Why do over 50% of them vote as if they are at least millionaires?
Conservatives don’t identify as borderline-improvrished; more like “temporarily embarrassed millionaires”.
Why should the government care since we showed them we didn’t in the last election.
Elections have consequences
Biden didn’t raise the minimum wage, either.
Yes, I know there are “reasons”, but they’re all bullshit and could have been overcome by, say, an FDR or even a Clinton.
There’s a reason Democratic voter turnout was so low with last election, all these little reasons over the decades add up. Elections have consequences, indeed.
Independents are now up to 40% of voters, the major parties are bOtH losing voters (30% each now, new low)
Biden also slow walked us into this by not going after Trump at all in the name of bipartisanship.
Biden will always be in the bottom 15 of presidents for not crushing MAGA as a National Security Threat after the Insurrection and hundreds of stolen documents, and allowing them to rise and take power again. Trump should have been executed for his treason, or at least put in prison for the rest of his life.
And they had the Epstein Files, too.
Unforgivable political malpractice.
“The voters cannot be failed, they can only fail the government.”
In a democracy or republic with full voting rights, that’s EXACTLY how it works.
People get the government they vote for. No more, no less.
I’m angry at the politicians, of course. But not NEARLY as angry as I am at my countrymen who PUT them there.
For as much as we constantly hear nonsense bullshit about “blood to water the tree of liberty”, the SINGLE most important aspect of being a citizen of a representative government is being informed about things and making good decisions about your representatives. It’s your FIRST duty as a citizen. But it’s clearly too high a bar for most people to even attempt to meet.
I’m no fan of the CCP, but when they say that average people can’t be trusted to steer the ship of society, I have to say reality is making a compelling case.
Well the voters aren’t going to do anything about it anyway so this is a moot point.
1990s: “i can’t afford that big house! :(”
2000s: “i can’t afford that sports car! :(”
2010s: “i can’t afford amazon prime! :(”
2020s: “i can’t afford food! :(”bonus perpetual universal reality (USA only): medical bills, bankrupt
The Harris campaign platform actually included some decent propositions to improve affordability of housing, healthcare, and cost of living in general. But it didn’t seem like anybody paid attention to that. Too many people didn’t vote at all.
They were told aggressive genocide was far better than the mild genocide apologism that they can protest effectively. And they believed it. It’s like math is hard.
Maybe this will incentivize them to actually fucking VOTE the right way. I won’t hold my breath though; this country allowed the idiots to breed and there are no easy way back.
Fuck you to everyone who made this my retirement.
this country allowed the idiots to breed and there are no easy way back.
It’s even worse than that. The school system is fucked. A lot of people that could’ve wound up mildly intelligent were denied the skill of critical thinking and the benefits of well-rounded education. Instead, they were taught to game tests and to obey their authorities without protest. Don’t rock the boat, don’t “talk back” when you’re wronged, just do what you’re told and keep your mouth quiet about it.
It’s no mystery why so many people rely on talking heads to direct their political opinions.
I am schizoaffective and have the brain of a demented gopher and I can barely figure out whst to do to take care of my life partner while his brain shits the bed too. Food prices really have gone up/are going up insanely quickly.
What financial problem could be bigger than the cost of living?
Shareholder returns, obviously!
What are you? A communist?

Cost of living: the day to day expenses like food and clothes. A big financial problem, especially now.
Cost TO live: the general expenditures for life-saving medical-care. A catastrophic financial problem, historically so but more so today.
Ahhh. I thought cost of living were the necessary expenditures like roof and food.

Did you not read the first sentence in my post?
I’m confused. I said something dumb I guess, then admitted it. Which first sentence did I miss?
I didn’t even think you said something dumb. Dude is just being an asshole for some reason.

What the hell? I’m trying to be personable here. I don’t get what you’re irritated about. I said something dumb. You explained and got me squared away. I said that I understood better now and what my misunderstanding was. Then you’re just unnecessarily hostile. ¯_(ツ)_/¯
Don’t take it personally. Everyone is becoming more skeptical of everyone else online, by design.
The price of yachts?
One doesn’t die if one can’t afford a yacht. I’m just saying, hierarchical needs puts living right at the top, seems to me.
