The US Senate on Wednesday once again voted down a resolution that would have restricted President Donald Trump’s ability to use military force against Iran, and this time a Democratic senator was the deciding vote.

The resolution failed after Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) voted with the majority of Republican senators against a war powers resolution introduced by Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.).

The resolution would would have passed had Fetterman supported it because Sens. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) all voted in favor.

This is now the seventh time the Senate has blocked a war powers resolution on Iran since Trump illegally began the conflict in late February…

Both him and his wife (girlfriend?) always looked like undercover Dishonorable Klingons in human make up—his actions in the senate have done nothing but confirm my suspicions. this guy’s likely true house is that of House Duras.

Ds only had a couple votes for minimum wage increase under Biden, even though that was his platform. “sorry, we tried super hard! We spent an entire afternoon on it, folks!”

Something with no chance of passing? Now seventh attempt and counting, good job Democrats.

Do Strokes ever make people more compassionate?

Or is there just a strong correlation with cardiac illness and being a dick?

Strokes are brain attacks. While the clots that (can) cause them can be cardiac in nature, they can be caused by many other issues as well.

Compassion and empathy are higher level cognitive functions typically achieved after base needs are met. So l, brain damage caused by a stroke is unlikely to make someone have higher level function. Basically, strokes = brain damage, and brain damage = less recognition of humanity in others.

Manchin at least was a ‘D’ seat a fraction of the time, but instead it’s a regular ‘R’ seat now; imo it was a trade down. With Fetterman it’s just a complete waste since we could have an actual Democrat in that seat. I feel it’s more like a Sinema situation.

      IMO literally took his place.

My theory is that the DNC and the Dem establishment, in order to ensure that they can mouth leftist platitudes without the risk of actually advancing leftist interests and thereby alienating their big money donors, always have at least one or two ringers - people who, for one reason or another (most likely because they’re bribeable and bribed or extortable and extorted) can be counted on to, when necessary, cast the vote(s) that ensure that the Republicans don’t quite lose.

So Fetterman, just like Manchin (and Sinema) before him, is doing exactly what he’s supposed to do.

I used to believe that but what is the point anymore? They have the literal keys to the kingdom and speed running fascism. Why pretend anymore?

Because the American people are a violent bunch, so they have to somewhat pretend otherwise face that violence. If the democratic base used that violence against the democratic leadership I’m sure the republicans would be cheering and suddenly you have both sides rooting for violence against government officials, which can quickly spiral out of control.

Personlly I feel like the time to start buying stock in a basket making company is getting close.

Then again Americans have become too complacent and stupid. Half the country voted for all these issuses and are only now realizing it.

It sucks to remember when he was once considered to maybe be a part of something good, something hopeful

But, it turns out that he’s a cunt, and being brain-damaged made it even worse

There always seems to be a single vote to pass or not pass legislation in the Senate. It needs to be abolished.

If we ended transparent congressional voting it’d stop that nonsense, and kill a fair amount of lobbying too since lobby firms couldn’t guarantee returns on investment anymore.

At this point, I can only assume that the reason fetterman’s it getting jeered from every board/chair/whatever panel hes on is because Cluck Cluck Chuck wants him voting the way he is.

If you can’t be arsed to stop a rogue president starting wars without apporval, stop genocided and war crimes and just generally doing the most basic “right thing” possible, you’re not going to vote against said rogue asswipe. Ever.

He was the only dem who voted against it. But yes, there were a bunch of republican stooges that voted to not hold trimp accountable.
