Like they do with dogs today.

There would be social pressure in China to stop eating pork so as to do civilisation better.

And nobody would ask why the Bible forbids eating pig meat; since pigs wouldn’t be food animals, asking why it’s wrong to eat them would be like asking why theft is wrong.

I’m a Muslim man and I can tell you nobody cares, really. My MIL complains about the drug and booze culture, which are actual problems since you can’t go outside without seeing loud, sometimes aggressive groups of drunk/coked out white boys, or nonsense pushed by Western media. Non-Muslims eating pork is not even a topic I’ve ever talked about with any Muslim person.

But yes, Western leaders (not just them, ofc, but they’re the most relevant and identifiable group that does this, even between themselves [“freedom fries” and the concept of “whiteness” come to mind]) will find and push any reason/narrative to make their already brain-dead, heavily propagandised, truth-agnostic people hate others, simply because they can then manipulate this sentiment, maybe pushing it far enough to make the average man cheer for death and destruction, and profit from it.

I think it’s more the massive influence of dogs as companion animals have had on western society. Maybe pigs would be a less niche pet in your example but I doubt it. Muslims also don’t eat pork and there’s 2 billion plus of them. Right around 2.5 billion Christians. I also don’t think it’s racist to be bummed XYZ people eat dogs.

Absolutely, if your argument is that muslims aren’t/cant be just as racist and xenophobic as anyone… well… good luck out there friend.

I’m not making an argument at all.

The thought was if Christians didn’t eat pork, they would look down on people who do. Since you mentioned that there already is a religious group that didn’t eat pork, I asked if they do what OP assumes porkless Christians would do

If they do, then OP is in to something, if they don’t, then there’s no reason to think Christians would act differently.

My thought is that dogs and pigs are on such a completely different level of companionship OPs point is moot regardless it’s not a possible comparison given the emotional attachment.

Pigs are as smart as dogs and especially while they’re little can be great pets. As they grow you gotta get them some room to live though. They get big.

Isn’t this the exact same conversation Vince and Jules had in the diner in Pulp Fiction?

But yeah, I totally agree. There would have to a huge increase in pet pigs before it got to the same level as eating dog.

I hear they are very smart and make great pets, but I imagine most people would prefer something fluffier.

I live in muslim majority country as a non-muslim, and the racist one sure do, some to the point of having superiority complex simply because of their religion. Racist will be racist no matter what condition you give them.

  • “If XYZ people would make racist comments”

Lmao you have no idea how often people make “do you eat cats and dogs?” “jokes” to me when I was in school. Both white and black kids, and even hispanic kids too, basically every Non-Asian makes those “jokes”…

    I don’t ever recalled eating a cat or dog…

And even if some people do… you can’t really be judging what people eats in a country with a different culture and was in a war-torn state after the invasion by imperial japan. Would you rather people starve to death?

Also I have a cat as a pet and its not food

    I’m Chinese American.

1 you missed the point 2 a small fraction of people in China absolutely eat dogs. A country with a population the size of China’s means a small fraction is still a massive amount of animals. Around 10 million dogs a year and they were classified as livestock not companion animals until 2020. Stating that isn’t racist its factual. The Yulin Dog Meat Festival happens every year to this day and will happen in 2026. I have no idea where you’re getting the idea it hasn’t happened since the 1300s.

That’s great and all man…but that first website is propaganda. The second one is over 10 years old and the last one was just nine and I didn’t even read past the title. You can learn through Chinese residents about their culture and history.

Are you trying to say that dog eating is made up? I feel like you’re trying to reject reality so you can feel like you’re on the “right” side of things. Objective fact is a thing. I could have gotten sources from the last year or two but I was just trying to show that your assertion about the 1300s is absolutely ridiculous. I used to be very close with a Vietnamese man who talked me through a fair bit of his experience with dog meat prior to coming to the USA (among a ton of other shit). He was a mentor to me while I was finishing my degree. I’m not operating soley on google searches. It just objectively is a thing in a some places. Especially, some Asian and African countries, end of story.

That’s not what I am saying no. But you’re trying to tell me every Chinese person eats dog every day for dinner and then they have a yearly extraganza about it. But when I have friends and family still in China, I’ll take their word over some dumbass articles

Lmao you didn’t read what I said at all… I literally said a small fraction of China’s population eats dogs but with a population the size of China’s a small fraction still means a lot of animals… Saying what you just said would actually be racist.

I’ve never seen a Muslim give a fuck what y’all eat but I’ve seen white boys try to taunt Muslims with pork more than once lol. Something is wrong with some of y’all
