Like they do with dogs today.
There would be social pressure in China to stop eating pork so as to do civilisation better.
And nobody would ask why the Bible forbids eating pig meat; since pigs wouldn’t be food animals, asking why it’s wrong to eat them would be like asking why theft is wrong.

I’m not making an argument at all.
The thought was if Christians didn’t eat pork, they would look down on people who do. Since you mentioned that there already is a religious group that didn’t eat pork, I asked if they do what OP assumes porkless Christians would do
If they do, then OP is in to something, if they don’t, then there’s no reason to think Christians would act differently.
My thought is that dogs and pigs are on such a completely different level of companionship OPs point is moot regardless it’s not a possible comparison given the emotional attachment.
Pigs are as smart as dogs and especially while they’re little can be great pets. As they grow you gotta get them some room to live though. They get big.
Isn’t this the exact same conversation Vince and Jules had in the diner in Pulp Fiction?
But yeah, I totally agree. There would have to a huge increase in pet pigs before it got to the same level as eating dog.
I hear they are very smart and make great pets, but I imagine most people would prefer something fluffier.
