Here’s an excerpt from the Bill itself, from state senator Randy Grellner of Oklahoma":
No NGO shall knowingly or recklessly provide material support for the benefit of any illegal immigrant or asylum seeker within this state. Any NGO that violates this subsection shall be permanently ineligible to receive any state or local funding.
In addition to the penalty provided in subsection B of this section: 1. Any officer, director, employee, or agent of an NGO who knowingly participates in or directs a violation of subsection B of this section shall be guilty of a felony, punishable upon conviction by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections for not less than one (1) year nor more than five (5) years, by a fine not to exceed Fifty Thousand Dollars ($50,000.00), or by both such imprisonment and fine;
The bill defines material support as:
“Material support” means food, shelter, housing, transportation, legal services, medical care, financial assistance, or any other tangible aid or resource, directly or indirectly, that facilitates the presence, resettlement, or integration of individuals described in paragraph 2 of this subsection within this state;
That legal services prohibition definitely runs contrary to the 5th and 14th Amendments’ Due Proces clauses which states:
No person shall . . . be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law . . …
-U.S. Constitution’s 5th Amendment.
And
No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law . . …
-U.S. Consitution’s 14th Amendment.
So how can Oklahoma expect to legally deprive someone of their access to legal services without letting them have acess to an attorney? Depriving someone of the opportunity to rebut the assertion that they’re a migrant means anyone can be labeled as a migrant, which would deprive everyone of the opportunity to rebut that.
Also, the deprival of food, shelter, housing, or medical care would constitute a cruel and unusually punishment which is prohibited under the 8th Amendment, which states:
nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
That applies against the states too via the 14th Amendment.
Come on! I thought Oklahoma was where “they” sent refugees! Isn’t that where the trail of tears ended? My in-laws landed there in 1984 when they escaped from the Persia regime change.

Hilariously, this would seem to make it a felony to employ an undocumented immigrant. Funny tell the farmers, factory owners, roofing companies, general contractors, etc. etc.
A congregation member from a church gives food to a brown guy at the weekly potluck and suddenly the church is shutdown and the congregate owes $50,000 and is sent to prison for 5 years.

its not. they specifically like to pretend the constitution only applies to citizens but due process is specifically supposed to apply to everyone because the easiest way to take rights away from citizens is to not give someone the dure process it would take for them to be identified as citizens. Without due process for all then everyone can be treated as “illegal” because no process will ferret out the truth of the situation.
But SCOTUS says money is speech, you saying I can’t talk to immigrants?
Don’t forget the 6th amendment right to the assistance of counsel.
That amendment specifically applies to criminal prostitutions. The 5th Amendment is more applicable because, as was pointed out in Miranda, the 5th Amendment’s due process clause requires the advice of counsel before the indictment has been filed. The Due Process clause inherently requires people to be able to access attorneys.
Prostitution shouldn’t be criminal 😉

I’m guessing you’re being sarcastic, but it still saddens me how people have perverted what the Bible says about how you should treat people, including immigrants. There are so many verses about welcoming people into your country, and giving them the same justice you would give to anyone else.
Yes, OP was being sarcastic. It’s almost as if these so called Christian valued folks have never actually read the Bible. Then again, the Bible is left to interpreted however one sees fit. But, the words quite literally state immigrants should be treated with love and respect.

People forget that Jesus warned the people at Golgotha of His vengeance. They, and the traitors who turned Jesus in, were wiped out to the last man by Jesus Himself. This ultimately led to Jesus’ conquest of Rome, and the decapitation of Emperor Tiberius by Jesus’ own hands in the heat of battle.
Therefore, it makes perfect sense that aiding an undocumented immigrant would be committing the sin of mercy. Jesus would never allow a potential agent of His enemies to go free.
