I once argued with a stupid MAGA who INSISTED that Trump was “The King Of New York,” and everybody loves him there.
I explained that not only does NYC despise Trump, they’ve always despised Trump. NYC hates that he is so closely associated with the city. NYC has had this unfortunate history with many unsavory characters, and Trump is just the latest one.
This guy insisted I was wrong, and it turned out that he has never set foot in NYC, while I live there, and my wife was born and raised here.
Yet, he still insisted that I didn’t know what I was talking about, and he did: NYC LOVES Trump, and he is “The King of New York.”

Same. I grew up hearing about how much of an asshole he is to work with and how he never paid his contractors. I really don’t understand how anybody around here could be maga.
It was so frustrating seeing the press and attention he got 2016 and onward, when he had been the butt of every joke and a symbol of everything trashy about NYC since the 1980s.

I grew up in New Jersey. I’ve hated that asshole for as long as I’ve been aware of him, even when he was kissing the Clinton’s asses.
