This is the most incompetent, incoherent war America has fought in the last 100 years. And that’s saying a lot. This administration has no idea what they are doing. There is no viable war plan. They change their goals and their aims every single day.
I have great sympathy for our soldiers and our military leaders. They are being given directions by a senile old man who is losing his mind. And so, it’s no surprise that this war is going horribly.

It’s a war that shouldn’t be happening to begin with. Anyone who actually cares about American national security wants green energy. That’s the only way we get out of the Middle East.
America does not want to be out of the Middle East.
Gubmint clearly doesn’t. The government isn’t serious about national security, they’re serious about committing insider trading. But the people? There were absolutely people who believed Trump on “no new wars.”
Oil means centralized control through imposed scarcity. You can’t stop the sun and wind…yet, but I’m sure they’re working on it.
Montgomery Burns has an idea about that.
Some of the long-term consequences of global warming are going to be absence of clouds and extreme winds. Maybe these bastards are just thinking really long-term.
Wouldn’t it be just so on brand if the instead of blackening the sky to stop the AI (i.e. The Matrix) we did it to keep people from getting unlimited free power without paying some oligarch for it?
How else are we going to solve global warming? /S (but seriously the oligarchs are pushing for geoengineering as a way to not stop burning oil)
I mean, that is the more likely scenario right now. I hate this timeline. Time to go make papercuts between my toes to see if it skips to a new track.
This. I just never understood people that piss on wind and solar and EVs and just generally reevaluating our energy uses pretend to be “patriots” by simping for Big Oil.
If we can become truly energy independent, we don’t have to be embroiled in all this stuff. Sure, Israel will still be a problem for entirely different reasons, but we have all these weird dynamics with monstrous leaders, and all because of the oil.
America wants to be embroiled in all this stuff. When you’re a unipolar hegimon, it’s very hard to let go.
China creating a larger gap in renewables and robotics will ultimately be what relegates the US to the number two position and from there it’s not going to be pretty.
No no, we’ll leave when the wells run dry.
