Everybody who works in advertisement should be reeducated to do some productive work for society instead. Like caring for old people, cleaning parks, repairing roads …

Ah, here go the COMMUNISTS again, with their “caring for the elderly”, and “cleaning up public spaces”.

5 seconds at the most since that’s what YouTube SONETIMES gives. That’s only if you feel like treating them like a human and not what they actually are.

My brother-in-law also refuses to use adblockers. He prefers to pay YouTube to not enshittify his watching experience. How a man on disability can justify that cost I do not know.

Giving them money just provokes further entshittification, because it gives them pointers as to what kind of shittification they can charge money for.

The thing is, as long as money rules the planet, everyone’s morality has a price. I think that’s what the thing about Judas meant to convey. Or Jesus fucking shit up in the temple, for that matter.

I am a hardcore idealist. Would I help google for $100000K? No. Would I do it for a million? Uh. Would I do it for ten million? Yes. I can’t justify that other than saying that I would be able to do some extreme good for humanity with that money, start schools, bring people out of poverty, help research eco-friendly fuels, grant scholarships…

But the problem will always remain- the people who have the money to grant me ten million will ultimately have the power to influence others to commit immoral acts, because that’s the power of money, and as long as money rules our societies, it means that those with the most money in the world will effectively be in power of the world, which is exactly what we see.

I’m stating the obvious, I suppose, but it seems we are all so deep into the cult of capitalism that we take it for granted and don’t remind ourselves enough that the economic system that has usurped our democracies worldwide lies at the deepest core of our problems as a civilization, and they will not go away until we get rid of it and replace it with something far more equitable.

    We need revolution.

This is what the Effective Altruists were supposed to be but they somehow managed to fuck it up with narcissism like billionaires always do.

you wouldnt do it for $100000K but you would do it for less than that? (you put a K on there making it 100m which is > 10m)

Every Indo-European language other than english:

          10^6 = Million
          10^9 = Milliarde
          10^12 = Billion
          10^15 = Billiarde

But the 100KK > 10M works in both systems.

Wealth is power, which is why wealth, like power, must be limited.

Your refusal to pay for a browser or a social network is what lead to this. And the people who provide those “free” services will make their money somehow.

Yep. Companies don’t enshittify because it’s necessary, they enshittify because they can get away with it.

If they can put ads in your media even when you’re paying, they will, regardless of whether your payments cover the cost on their own or not.

oh bullshit. I still have a paid lifetime LJ.

This war was started by the companies An ad on the sidebar? sure fine, whatever. But then started farming ad streams and letting MALWARE into the fckin thing. So we put up ad blockers. And then they decided it meant we wanted MORE ads. And now it’s full page as everywhere trying to trick you into a false click, it’s ads interrupting content, Doctors hate this one trick! Drink a spoonful of thi s common household item to fart gerbils!! You wanna see a trailer? WATCH THESE FOUR ADS FIRST BEFORE YOU SEE THE AD!! its ads on ads on ads, in a way beyond network television’s wildest dreams.

Didn’t care for tiny ads back then. I was there for my videos made with windows movie maker with an Evanescence track over it.

Now it’s over the top and non stop, it’s full of scammers, and it collects everything about me while it’s trying to manipulate me into becoming enraged about everything so I keep engaging with their platform eternally.

      uBlock stays on.

Actually 🤓, what lead to this 👆 being the state of things is corporate greed 🤑. The ‘people’ 🐽🐷 who own those ‘services’ make more money💸💸 than entire states - I belive that’s what the kids call a bruh 😑 moment.

So, I’ve been thinking 🤔, and I belive I found a solution 👍. It’s so simple 🤩, we just need to do some, let’s call them 🤫😇 ‘budget cuts’ 📉 in the highest positions 🤯🔫
