NBC News exit polls from Tuesday’s elections showed voters are deeply worried about pocketbook issues and the direction of the country.
Ahead of Tuesday’s elections, Donald Trump assured Americans that prices are coming down, the economy is picking up and the nation is flourishing in ways that make it the world’s envy.
Voters don’t seem to be buying it.
Democrats swept key races, as exit polls depicted an electorate gripped by fears that the U.S. is careening in the wrong direction, far from Trump’s glowing portrait of a nation ascendant.
I went to McDonald’s for the first time in several months the other day. I was craving pickles. I got a spicy McChicken with extra pickles and a mcdouble with extra pickles. It was almost $10. They forgot the pickles.
Isn’t there some kind of protocol for when the president is out of touch with reality?

Im going to go out on a limb and say that if 42 million people are on SNAP, maybe the economy isn’t so great…
Most of the people I talked to about it when I visited my in-laws in Michigan a week ago were saying that they thought people on SNAP were people that couldn’t be bothered to work… So not everyone has gotten the message yet. Tbf their county is definitely a very red one but it still amazed me how sheltered they were from things. I somehow know more about US politics as a Dutchie then they do. They had no idea that most SNAP recipients are people working minimum wage jobs that can’t get by otherwise due to minimum wage being so little.
Hell, they didn’t even know what the no kings protest was about…
Most people don’t understand that Walmart is a huge contributor of this and that most places, especially fast food places, will only allow their employees to work so many hours so they don’t have to give benefits.
I have a friend who is all about Trump. I will continue to try and convince him that there are better people out there. Another friend posted a Tshirt he was going to get him for Christmas. It was a DT shirt, basically making fun of him. My maga friend replied with a commie mamdami shirt. I’m just like is that supposed to be an insult? Do you not want affordable housing and living wage? Do you want to keep working 2 jobs?
I think there are a lot of people out there like him that play into the media. They blame the poor and immigrants instead of the rich. They see far left or a person with any other view as their own as far left and a liberal fascist commie. They are pissed at the previous democratic administration (which I don’t blame them), but if you ask me Biden is just a Republican anyway. Go back 30 or 50 years and he would be a Republican. They want the same things, but see the left “far” left as commies and the previous administrations did nothing to help their situation.
I say all this to say, that yes, people are poorly educated and are shooting themselves in the foot because of what the media has told them to believe. This includes the propaganda found on Facebook, tik too, need sites, and other social media outlets. It’s a frustrating time right now
If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.

It’s also interesting when they say “I don’t watch the news or keep up with politics, it all doesn’t matter anyway” only to then complain when it does start to matter for them. I haven’t heard them about the whole healthcare price increases shenanigans yet but I’m sure it’ll hit them sometime soon. I agree that the news can be depressing at times but overall it’s better to be occassionally depressed on up-to-date on things then to be ignorant. I saw a video that perfectly illustrated this the other day, this one about Bernie Sanders visiting Virginia. So many people there were saying “Now that I’m actually listening to him he’s a really nice and sensible guy”. Drives me insane.
No one’s on SNAP, now. See? economy fixed!
Years ago I read Hunter Thompson’s book, “Hell’s Angels.” I was a teenager who wanted to read about biker gangs, but there was one passage that stuck with me.
Back when the book was written [circa 1970] an Angel could get a job as a Union stevedore and earn enough in six months to drop out and live on the road for two years. If his girl friend got a part time waitress job she could support them both.
You used to be able to buy a house with a minimum wage job.
A successful professional in 2025 is living as well as his grandfather the garbage man.
That’s 42 million (roughly 10% of the population) on it right now. The percentage of Americans who will use it at some point in their life is closer to 50%.
It doesn’t match what anyone is seeing. That’s the definition of gaslighting.
It’s just a simple matter of concepts.
HIS economy is not the same as the economy of his voters.
“Why is everyone so upset? I just got so much more money…”
Trump’s view of the economy:
10 Richest U.S. Billionaires Have Expanded Wealth by $700 Billion Since Trump’s Return
But the billionaires have been making record profits!
I wonder how much longer it will take to the masses to finally understand that all that money the billionaires made was stolen from them in the form of underpaid wages, overpriced products, tax credits, subventions, and externalities.
That “Golden Age” line was for him and his billionaire friends openly robbing America in board daylight. It doesn’t help even when the media pushes back at home in the most baby soft tone, he is still delusional believing his own narratives.
If the average American voter’s days were filled with lavish dinner parties, golfing trips and vacations where famous people gave them golden trinkets, then I could imagine they would think their country is on a good path.
His “bright view of the economy” is entirely based upon what he’s been able to personally pocket through his multitude of grifts. He doesn’t GAF about anybody or anything else.
That’s a lot of words to say, “Trump is a delusional liar.”
So more of the same? The economy hasn’t been good in YEARS, this didn’t just start
No, but he’s cranked the instability volume up to 30 (of 10) since he re-entered the Oval Office, along with all the naked cash grabs no other president in recent memory would’ve ever gone near.
And it won’t stop when he leaves
It could if we replace these shits with people willing to help non billionaires
Won’t happen soon enough to save us. The shit’s already hitting the economic fan, so all the billionaires will be able to own everything for pennies on the dollar before long - which has been their overarching goal all along.
That’s the same problem Biden and the majority of politicians have. The “magnificent 7” are driving the markets up, while the rest are not doing so well. The economy is being fueled by AI hype right now.
Literally everything is more expensive. I understand that if you’ve never had to worry about money that’s not a problem, but for the other 99% of us it’s a daily issue.
My retirement accounts are doing great, if only I can survive long enough to retire. If not at least my kids will get a downpayment for a small house.
