He’s absolutely right. It’s not a big deal, because no one will do anything about it. Republicans march toward fascism while Democrats wag their finger.

Why do you think a primary moving back two months is a big deal?

And how can those 45k ballots be used when some of the districts have changed?

I’m trying to figure out if I’m missing something, or everyone else is…

They redistricted to dilute the Black vote…

That is not what the headline is referring to with the 45k number…

That is the amount of votes that were already cast in a primary for the old maps…

And those ballots are discarded, and those voters will vote in two months in the districts they’re no in.

What you’re talking about isn’t what the article you’re commenting on is about buddy.

“But voting was already happening,” Vega said, cutting Landry off. “As we sit here right now, more than 45,000 ballots have been returned. What happens to those?”

In the previous article linked earlier, it says the primary will be in July, it’s confusing because in this article he jumps straight to talking about the general

          Does it make sense now?

This is the problem. They’re being gerrymandered into districts to unfairly enhance the ability of the party in power to remain in power even though the majority of voters would rather they aren’t. That it’s also happening over racism is especially evil (basically saying “fuck those people in particular for their skin color, they should be our slaves again”), but the realm issue is carving up the map to subvert the will of the people.

I’ll go ahead and say it: Redrawing maps shouldn’t even be a thing.

You’re nitpicking semantics when fascism is taking place. And you’re being a dick fo some reason.

              No…

I’m explaining that you don’t understand what the article you’re commenting on and you’re being very aggressive about it for some reason.

For some reason there’s been a steady stream of new accounts like yours accusing me of “being a dick” for explaining things logically.

I’m not a new account. You’re nit-picking semantics when fascism is taking place and being a dick about it.

Votes are being thrown out in order to make those votes not matter. If doesn’t matter if there will be a show election in two months, the result is the same. Previously “too close to the election” has been the repeated refrain to disenfranchise black voters with illegal maps, now it doesn’t matter that votes have already been cast. It’s naked and open and you’re arguing semantic details as if we need to maintain a front of stolid respectability.

This was done post the gutting of voting rights by the Supreme Court.

They’re no longer valid, because Louisiana now has the ability to racially gerrymander away black majority districts that were previously protected by law.

So these votes were cast in a world where racially based gerrymandering was illegal, but now that it’s not, Louisiana can KKK all over the districts, which is what they have done.

You’re saying, and have repeated it over and over, that race based gerrymandering doesn’t matter. That it’s actually good that Louisiana is now legally able to disenfranchise black voters through gerrymandering.

More than that, you’re saying that it’s okay to start race-based gerrymandering in the middle of an election, and in doing so, invalidate votes already cast, because it serves white supremacy and the Republican party.

And because I’m sure you will claim you’re not saying that, let me just get ahead of you by saying yes, yes you are, and you’ve made at least three comments in here saying how this is not a big deal, and that it’s actually good.

          Nope.

          The decision is completely different.

What would be worse, is if they said those 45k already voted and counting them under the new map even if that meant the candidates that were voted for by African Americans in those two districts obviously can’t run in every district that their voters are now in…

          That would be bad.

I’m not sure why you’re so upset about this instead of waiting to see if there was something you were missing.

          Does it make sense now?

Because if you still have questions and ask them the same way, Im probably just going to never attempt to help you again

Sometimes it’s hard to tell if someone is speaking in bad faith, or is just a moron.

This is one of those times.

But you’ll have to find someone else to answer your questions now, best of luck
