I know NYC is a major city and media hub but I’ve never seen a bunch of bozos so unable to handle a municipal election before. And in a municipality that routinely elects the most embarrassing mayors. Literally a few of them complained that individual donations were paying them more than lobbyists. They don’t want any money, they want corpo money.
i imagine a large amount of money coming under the table from a single source is a lot easier to hide than a large amount of money coming from a combination of many sources.
Much easier to repurpose that money for non-campaign expenses when it can be easily laundered.
