Updated 11:08 AM EDT, September 8, 2025Capitalism’s image has slipped with U.S. adults overall since 2021, the survey finds, and the results show a gradual but persistent shift in Democrats’ support for the two ideologies over the past 15 years, with socialism rising as capitalism falls. The shifts underscore deep divisions within the party about whether open support for socialism will hurt Democrats’ ability to reach moderates or galvanize greater support from people who are concerned about issues like the cost of living.
…But Democrats under 50 are much less likely to view capitalism favorably, while the opinions of Democrats ages 50 and older haven’t shifted meaningfully, according to Gallup.
According to the survey, only 42% of Democrats view capitalism favorably, while 66% have a positive view of socialism.
17% of Democrats have a positive view [of big business]
Yet it remains a capitalist party that supports big business and would rather court Republicans than listen to its constituents
Just look at the people in charge of the Democratic party. Especially the ones who are planning to die in office to leave behind a legacy.
They’re just conservatives in sheep’s clothing. They’ve done the bare minimum to seem left leaning, but they’re currently clinging to power and are refusing anyone with “socialist” views to get any power. They’ve been blocking Bernie for over a decade, they’re making sure AOC doesn’t make big tweets that would overshadow their Newsom puppet, the DNC changed their rules to prevent new blood, etc.
I don’t know what they are but I do want to see the Republican party crushed into dust
Around half of Republicans said that capitalism gives all people an opportunity to be successful, but fewer said it meets people’s basic needs.
Good thing they all voted for the Avatar of Capitalism then. “He’s a businessman.”
I guarantee most of them are fine with socialist policy as long as you call it something else
…especially if you can ensure “we” get the benefits and “they” don’t.
One of the key motifs of conservative ideology is zero-sum thinking: they seem to think that if someone else is gaining something, it must mean that someone else (possibly them) are losing.
Trump government is still buying more stocks of Intel
I had a couple good ol’ boys ready to seize the means of production before their buddy pointed out that it’s socialism.
We’ve been conditioned to fear socialism our entire lives but it’s hard not to notice that capitalism is robbing us blind.
The one inevitable result of their embrace of Reaganomics is not just fascism it seems.
Hopefully.
