If this was the case, Republicans would always win and Democrats would always lose.

That’s not the case, though. Recently people just vote for the party that is out of power, because no matter who gets elected everything gets worse. Republicans get elected, everything gets worse, so people vote for Democrats next time. Then the Democrats get elected, everything gets worse, and so people vote for Republicans next time. Over and over until we’re all dead.

Okay, yeah, I was speaking too loosely and not literally every single thing got worse under Biden.

But the majority of voter’s lives got worse, so they either stayed home or voted for Trump. They don’t care if some other metrics improve if their own lives don’t. They could afford less, struggled with bills more, and had to watch a livestreamed genocide.

Things got worse under Biden. Not everything, but enough. The same will happen for Trump. Things will get worse. Maybe not everything, but enough… though who even knows if the electoral system will be intact enough to swing the other way again.

Yeah, everything didn’t get worse, just the basics like housing, healthcare, the economy, the environment, the military, policing…

Not a fan of Biden, but his admin was like the definition of “status quo”.

Which sucks, but that’s a different conversation. It’s unequivocally superior to whatever the fuck is going on right now.

It’s not even that It’s status quo except with some long term investments. Things like the inflation reduction act and the unipartisan infrastructure act (yeah repubs dont get credit for something they had to be dragged into some supporting before they tore it down as soon as they had the power). He also got blocked from forgiving student loans.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not enough, but it is something that’s been rare.

I’d say the “status quo” is getting worse. The system itself makes things worse without intervention. And for a Biden specific failure, the non-prosecution of Republican crimes against democracy haven’t just allowed the criminals to freely continue, but normalized those crimes and enabled the criminals to become even worse.

Sure, but that’s the problem. “status quo” is: Continuously getting worse, while politicians openly lie about how it’s getting better. Voters very clearly don’t want status quo. They want something different, and are clearly ready to burn everything down to get it. Maybe the Democrats should try offering up “Different, in a positive direction” instead.
