Summary

Chief Justice John Roberts is facing the consequences of the Supreme Court’s broad immunity grant to Trump, as the Trump defies judicial orders and undermines the legal system.

In a controversial move, Trump deported Venezuelan immigrants to an El Salvador prison, disregarding a federal judge’s order and claiming immunity under foreign affairs powers.

Roberts issued a rare statement defending judicial independence.

Trump’s efforts to impeach the judge and challenge legal accountability reflect an erosion of democratic norms, prompting urgent concerns over constitutional crises and the rule of law.

He might know it but I doubt he feels any actual remorse for it.

Honestly I’m just so disappointed that Democrats did fuck all with it while they had the chance.

Dems did a lot, and they always did so legally. Thinking that absolutely nothing happened under Biden or Obama is the lie that everyone wants you to believe.

When HitlerPig “won” the election, we knew that the most prolific traitor in American history was taking over the presidency, with promises to literally destroy America.

Biden had full immunity, and he easily could have said “There is no eay that im going to allow a proven traitor, who is conspiring with Putin, to take over. I am remanding him to Gitmo, with all of his henchmen, where they will remain until all investigations and trials are resolved.”

Sure, MAGAworld would have screamed but who cares? Better the treasonous minority scream instead of the decent patriotic American majority.

But Biden is the typical weak spineless weenie that nearly all of our elected Democratic officials are. So he put “peaceful transfer of power” above allowing a treasonous take over and destroy our Democracy. No wonder Republicans despise Democrats for their weakness. I do too, that’s why I’ve been an Unafilliated Independent for over 40 years. I don’t want to be part of either of their sick clubs.

We can all enjoy our little fantasies but come on. You can’t be serious.

We all have to sit back and let them have enough rope to thoroughly and irrefutably hang themselves, to have the justification to actually do any of this very serious and world changing forever kinda stuff.

You still haven’t figured out that America isn’t supposed to survive this. Putin is running this op, and MuskRat and Krasnov are his muscle, and the objective is the end of American democracy and hegemony. Waiting for it to play out is not an option, it is literally the safety of the world at stake.

Reps make things happen, while Dems just react, usually weakly. It is time they take the lead and start make the Reps react.

What is happening to America wasnt just predictable, they literally published it in a book, and made it very clear that this was their plan. We know that both Krasnov and MuskRat had multiple private meetings with Putin during Biden’s term, and the Biden administration intelligence agencies should have been able to surmise what the coming objective was.

Biden had no obligation to treat an enthusiastic unrepentant traitor, and America’s biggest national security threat, who was actively plotting with America’s worst enemy, as a normal presidential candidate. We needed Biden, and the rest of the Democratic government, to quit being polite to bad people, and act courageously and decisively to defend America from an obvious domestic enemy, but they totally let us down with their spinelessness. Now it will almost certainly take violence, and very possibly a civil war, to save America from the MAGA Nazis.

It would have been civil war anyway (remember last time), and MAGA would have had justification for trying to ‘save’ america from people who weren’t respecting the rule of law and weren’t respecting the choice of the people. You want the dems to be the party of not respecting elections? They lost their chance when they didn’t lock trump up, but knowing him he would have made himself a martyr and disgraced america by ruling from prison. I have to hope that the dems have a plan and are at least modelling this all out.

At least this way MAGA are doing the illegal and immoral things, which they can’t twist and blame on the dems or whoever else. They can’t blame the dems for the signal group chat. They can’t delete government departments and blame the dems for the chaos which will follow. Do you see? They only have to be allowed to run and they will trip themselves up because they’re fools and Putin can’t make them smart.

Sometimes people have to learn the hard way, and its not just MAGA but Americans who don’t seem to realise that democracy isn’t just a given - it must be created and then defended. America got too complacent and usually it takes a war to wake a population up. So what do we do in the nuclear, postwar age? Maybe we let someone like trump fuck shit up so we can be saved and go back to a shitty mediocre version of democracy with gratitude, with capitalism reset (until next time!)

It would have been really bad but I would have been briefly ecstatic if like all the key Republicans were just rounded up and shot for being traitors.

        Probably be better off overall.

In nearly every nation in the not so distant past, and still in many nations in the world today, on the evening of Jan 6, after the Insurrection had failed, HitlerPig and all of his evil henchmen and family would have been dragged out onto the White House lawn and publicly executed.

I had posted that statement many times on Reddit, and when I posted it on the day after his Inauguration, my 12 year, million karma account was permantently banned.

I think you forget that the immunity decision wasn’t for democrats. The court knows that Biden wouldn’t do shit and they would have stopped him if he tried what you said. The immunity decision was for their special boy Trump and only people that align with them ideologically.

This piece seems like bullshit. Roberts knew what he was doing, and did it anyway because he is a fascist just like the rest of the fedsoc judges.

Oh, yeah, I get it, but that’s not how laws work. The law is a two-edged sword, and they aren’t just for some people, they are for ALL people. Dems need to keep reminding the Nazis that the same laws they want to apply to Dems can also be applied to them.

He has no power if judges have no power.

Identify specific acts Trump has taken to harm you that cannot be construed as core executive functions. This will give Roberts the chance to list some conduct that is—and conversely that can never be—a core executive function, to diffuse Trump’s notion that he can get away with murder. Hint: trying to impeach a federal judge is not, and can never be, a core executive function. Lying to American citizens about a foreign invasion is not, and can never be, a core executive function.

I don’t see how the Presidential immunity ruling is relevant to Trump’s current actions. So what if something Trump does is not a core executive function? The idea that Trump could face criminal charges right now, as the sitting President, seems far-fetched. It’s especially far-fetched for these examples, which he doesn’t need immunity for because they’re not crimes.
