Food and Drug Administration commissioner’s decisions have hurt staff morale and put his job in crosshairs
Donald Trump has signed off on a plan to fire Marty Makary, the commissioner of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday, after a series of high-profile agency decisions put the FDA head in the crosshairs of the White House and Republican lawmakers.
Makary’s tenure at the FDA has been marked by several controversial decisions on drugs and vaccines amid plummeting staff morale over layoffs and the appointments of divisive officials.
Recent political clashes include abortion, drugs and vaping, but decisions to pull back publications on the safety of shingles and Covid vaccines, among other immunization decisions, have also rocked public health. There have also been concerns about the transition from two clinical trials to one, the commissioner’s new priority review vouchers and “data-free” regulatory decisions.
Pedantry: plummets, with an e. I miss the days when newspapers employed people to catch stuff like this.
It’s clearly a portmanteau of plummets and shits.
It’s not pedantic to expect a major news organization to do a basic spell check, especially in the headline of all places.
Especially since spell check has existed for multiple decades.
Looks like they’ve changed it now.
I’ve done it, I’ve reached the plummit! And now I begin my decent.
Are they gonna legalize kinder surprise eggs?
Yes, but as a cure for breast cancer, and they will cost $30,000 each.
He’s getting ousted by pharma for some drugs that didn’t get approved, that upset the Wall Street Journal that has published a number of editorials attacking him, at least that is a good part of it I thought after reading in reuters about it.

George Tidmarsh was fired last fall for soliciting bribes for drug approvals.
I would not touch an FDA drug unless it was approved in two other regions with additional trials.
In general it’s useful to rely on Canadian standards anyways, they tend to care about safety more than us.
Food has gone to shit in the us. Usda prime beef taste like shit now
