President Donald Trump said Friday during remarks in Florida that the United States would take over Cuba “almost immediately,” suggesting an aircraft carrier could be positioned offshore after the conflict in Iran.

[…]

While the president’s comments appeared partly joking, they followed concrete policy action in the form of broadened sanctions.

The article says “partly joking”, but it would be insane to not take the US President seriously when he says stuff like that.

Yep. He’s “partly joking” about everything right up until the second he isn’t.

That’s what we call sane washing. He’s one of the most powerful people on the planet, his words have weight, this is not some crazy guy on the street corner.

suggesting an aircraft carrier could be positioned offshore after the conflict in Iran.

Don’t worry, the “conflict” in Iran isn’t ending any time soon…

What are you talking about? It ended at least three times already this year!

That’s so much winning, I just can’t keep up.

Maybe if he ends the war a few more times he’ll finally get that peace prize…

He no doubt does want to do a regime change operation against Cuba. It’s just the resources are tied up with trying to get Iran to re-open the strait, give up their nuclear program, and disband the Axis of Resistance Network.

Result is the US is not coming and any change has to happen inside the country. Which isn’t going to happen thanks to the US starving the people of needed resources

And the Cuban people overall like their government. Any pressing issues are wholly the fault of the USA, as far as can be assessed.

Sorry but from the information I can gather the Cuban people have similar opinions as Iranians have for their government.

They don’t like them, with real reason for no revolution because the US is not genuinely helping the people but trying to get their own oligarchs in power.

With both sides shooting the best the people in the middle can do is keep their head down and survive (unfortunately)

No they don’t lmao. Only the old generations still alive after the Revolution when they kicked out the USA are still die-hards. Most of the younger to middle aged people in general hate the Cuban government. How couldn’t they? They live the life while regular ppl have nothing due to the horrible sanctions by the USA. You don’t win hearts and minds with poverty, hunger, disease and death.

In regards to the sanctions: that’s a crime against humanity for an island like Cuba.

I doubt the Cuban people blame their government for illegal USA sanctions.

While the Cuban people don’t love the sanctions the reason for anti-goverment sentiment is the state apparatus not looking like doing anything to resolve the crisis but put more in the so called revolutionary defense committee and security institutions

The US will use up all it’s ammo on these operations and squander all it’s goodwill with allies, then someone will probably attack it’s interests around the world.
