In fact, this could ammount to a crime against humanity under the Rome Statute’s prohibition against certain types of deportation. Specifically, Article 7(1)(d)'s prohibition on deportation is defind in (2)(d), which reads:

I am seeing more and more posts talking about how terrible the US is, but most of the nicer places people want to go to, Norway, Canada, England, etc, are actually more expensive than the US and hard to live in full-time if they have no family there. Which I guess doesn’t really matter, because most people saying they will move from the US, don’t. And those that do, will find out real fast. lol

I live in a small very affordable town, but since it’s small, there are no “No Kings” rallies or meetups where people wear vegan clothes and talk about how much capitalism sucks, so most of Lemmy would hate it. People in my own, work, go to the park and eat ice cream after work, and have bbq’s on the weekend and hang out on porches and talk. No driveby shootings, no drugs, etc. Lemmy doesn’t want people to know that this is actually how most of the US is. lol

Yeah I lived in a small town for a while too. My friend worked as a PCA taking care of disabled adults in a care home. When he came out as trans, he got death threats and hit by cars multiple times while biking - and as someone who was stealth and also biked, those were absolutely murder attempts.
Also most small towns in the US have meth problems. It’s easier to ignore, but it’s still rampant.
