Champagne? Opening the front and back doors to let the old air out and new air in? Will the new air really be any better?

I have a bottle of champagne earmarked for him, Netanyahu, a US destroyer or capital ship, or maybe a B2 bomber.

Documents from bygone eras talk about a concept called “hope”. Sadly, knowledge of what that concept actually represented has been long lost to the mists of time.

Celebrate years later maybe after the repairs are showing results.

    But a toast nevertheless.

I won’t celebrate. Not because I’m not pleased, but because the fight is not over, and unfortunately, many who “woke up” to fascism thanks to Trump will happily go right back to sleep and stop voting and stop caring, which helps the fascist Republicans continue to attack our democracy.

Trump is evil, but it’s not like he’s the only evil man in a sea of reason; Republicans are fascists and in many ways (i.e. sans dementia) as bad or worse.

Also, depending on how he dies, his cult will absolutely go bug-fucking bonkers, making him into a martyr, or maybe it’ll spark violence. It is unlikely to end well.

He’s arguably doing more damage to the fascist movement than he is supporting it lately. I think they will be the ones celebrating when he is gone, but they will not stop pushing fascism. The infection has metastasized extensively, and once he is gone it will really get to work.

For a hot minute I thought “So this is how I find out”, but after checking a couple news sites it looks like we’re still waiting.

Guy goes to the news stand every morning, looks at the stack, grumbles, and walks away. One day the seller asks him what he’s looking for.

      “An obituary.”

“Obituaries are at the back, not on the front page.”

“The one I’m looking for will be.”

I figure the day I wake up and check Reddit or here or any of the social media feeds and they’ve all crashed will probably be a sign…

It’s sort of like a cancer patient having a tumor removed. There’s still a long road ahead to recovery, and plenty of opportunities for new tumors to replace it.

So I’m going to breathe a sigh of relief, take a few moments to enjoy the reduced weight of the world, and then prepare for the next steps.

We’re going to be waiting a while.
When we see him coming out with sunglasses, and perched up between two guys who are suspiciously close to him, only then can we estimate the time down to a couple of hours (depending on how many ads for Goya beans there are).

Was that the brunch comment? No biggie. It’s not a super serious discussion- just an internet post on No Stupid Questions. A certain percentage of responses are expected to be negativish. That’s what keeps the web spinning.

If all the magats who posted HE IS RISEN yesterday (for their friends to see) actually went to church, my favorite brunch places would be easier to get into.

You might not be wrong, but you can still choose to be a prick about it, I guess.

Which I guess is good for me to see and remind myself that when I feel the same frustration with people for believing things I think are stupid to believe, raging at them doesn’t help much. Doesn’t relieve my anger and frustration, and certainly doesn’t change any minds.

It sucks, though, because it’s not fair to read all the things idiots write that are achingly stupid, and have to try to keep replies not making oneself look like an asshat. I constantly fail at that.

Yeah you have a point I don’t think I’d come at someone IRL like that over wanting to celebrate Trump’s death. I just…don’t feel any victory in that moment and already hear centrists gearing up for another right wing democrat president taking everyone’s attention.

Right there with ya. Or at least 95%+ from the sound of it. When Trump is gone, the problems are not - fascists are still there. And then the people who “woke up” because of Trumpe will go back to sleep and fuck us over by no longer voting again.

Not a thing. I won’t do a single thing differently other than a sigh of relief. Then I’ll get back on with my day.

He wants nothing more than to be remembered. To be the center of attention.

I won’t give them any more power over my life than they have already stolen.

If he just wanted to be remembered he wouldn’t get so upset about people saying bad things about him.

He would hate people celebrating his death with the collective expression of joy it deserves.

I live in portland so I imagine the bars here will have drink specials, parks will be filled with celebrating stoners, etc.

Probably we’ll walk to the nearest clump of bars and join the celebration.
