    When this happens in any other industry, you raise wages until the labor market appreciates your job offer.

      Eh, maybe. H1-B has been used to artificially hold down IT wages for decades now.

        Engineering too. A huge chunk of my company’s design engineering staff are H-1B because you can get away with paying a lot less.

        H1B is just the same problem as H2A and is heavily abused. The poster is correct — this is a way to avoid paying what those jobs are actually worth.
