Propaganda and barely hidden racism are a hell of a drug.

I have absolutely no hope for our future in this country whatsoever. All the maga I know have absolutely no principles other than “whatever Trump does is Right™©®”

Biden was in power: he’s going to start WWIII! We need to stop being the global police force!

Trump is in power: I love what he’s doing with Venezuela! We need to exert our power everywhere and show we mean business!

Hypocrisy is their air and their water.

It’s the same like a religion. That their god said or did it (whatever they believe) makes it right. There is no other way to measure it for them. They won’t have it any other way.

They’ve never been principled about anything at any time. Small government - that’s bullshit. Free market - LOL. States rights - hahahaha. Free speech - don’t make me laugh.

Except maybe the bedrock principle of being racist pieces of shit, these people don’t stand for anything but being pathologically right wing authoritarian. They want a “strong” leader that makes all the decisions without any collaborative stuff (which is for pussies) or checks and balances.

These mother fuckers are going to make me want to support a poll exam.

To be clear, that’s an absolutely terrible, no good, awful idea that is guaranteed to be weaponized and we should never, ever want this to happen. But I am at a loss as to how else to make sure your voting base is at least minimally educated enough to understand what they are voting for.

I’ve always considered it to be one of my fundamental principles that every single living person should have a voice in how they are governed. I don’t care how stupid you are or how evil you are, if you are being governed by another, you deserve a voice in that conversation to steer your government in a direction you find acceptable.

I’m getting that fundamental principle extremely rocked at the moment, and I do not know how I should feel about it. I now simultaneously hold that position as well as the position of “some people just shouldn’t fucking be allowed to vote”, and this is a rock and a hard place that I’m finding it very difficult to reconcile.
