It must be difficult to be an American watching Trump destroy the country your ancestors have been building for hundreds of years. He has caused massive generational and irreversible damage at this point and its only getting worse.
Oh, and China just set a trade surplus record above 1 trillion thanks to Trump, first and only country to do that, how is all that winning going?
From my experience they just say “ that didn’t really happen, that was twisted into a lie, he wouldn’t ever do that “ - these people never, ever admit anything that is proven to be true. It’s always some contrarian, idiotic “ I know better than you “ take. It’s hopeless.
Can’t, my grandmother is elderly and I’m the only one of her kids/grandkids who talks to her, not really her fault on that one my mother is insane my uncle was stupid and the other grandkids are more or less different family outside of blood due to custody or cutoff reasons. Also she is also effectively my mother and is the woman who raised me.
Figure I can work out any frustration by car bombing random trumpers if a civil war breaks out.
It’s insanely difficult. All of this shit has substantially changed who I am at my core. I opted not to leave the country a few years back because my parents wouldn’t have been able to get in anywhere else for being too old.
Now I’m pretty much waiting around for this whole thing to get rebooted.
Now I’m pretty much waiting around for this whole thing to get rebooted.
That’s part of the problem. Everyone is standing around waiting for someone else to fix it for them.
You gotta pull together with others and work as a group to fight back.
I know group cooperation towards a common goal runs counter to the "nation of rugged individuals " mythos that Americans have for themselves, but that’s what it will take.
Yeah, we’re in a mid-season plot stretch to see if this administration can “weekend at Bernie’s” a vapid blathering demential patient for another year so that JD Vance can get 2.5 terms as president.
My ancestors were forced from their land by the American government in an event known as the Trail of Tears. So this is kinda a mixed bag for me really…
very difficult and complicated. Positioning my family to endure and outlast so that we can stay whole longer than the honor lasts among the thieves while others around me get consumed by the machine instills a very gilded sense of accomplishment peppered with guilt.
we’ve been a disgustingly individualistic country since the end of WWII best I can tell. Every adult born after 1948 that I’ve met has been selfish to the core.
the complicated part is I know they’ve been programmed to remain in a childlike mindset through radio, TV and internet… arguing with the retarded (clinical term, don’t flame me) is uncouthe to say the least.
Nope - I wish that were a generalization. There’s a reason sayings like “don’t mix family and business” are so ubiquitous. We deserve the late-stage capitalism we’ve earned and it’s getting exhausting pretending enough humans can be selfless enough to actually have nice things.
Case and point: You still wear your N95 mask in public because Covid is still a thing, right? RIGHT!? Didn’t think so. That’s one off-the-cuff example of how all-enompassing everyone’s individualism is when it comes to trying to have an actual humble, altruistic culture.
If I’m wrong, every fucking thing about the last 5 years would be different. Boycotted any oligarchs lately? Should I continue? The evidence is ample.
No, I’m not enlightened - I’m selfish, too (I’m just honest about it).
I have an older sibling with special needs so I’m a reluctant expert on ‘casual cruelty’ and other self-centered hedonistic BS that’s surrounded me for 40+ years. I usually keep this part to myself because people need to cling to whatever life raft they can find right now, but the lack of general strike or other selfless acts to turn these rats against eachother is deafening in it’s silence.

It’s all going exactly as everyone with 2+ braincells predicted.
What’s even harder is watching family and neighbors try to explain why it’s a good thing.
I wonder how they’ll spin it when he publicly burns the constitution

Time to cut those people out of your life. It’s hard, but you know it’s true.
Some of those morons need an exit ramp

I basically already have (years ago). But when you’ve got family that hasn’t been cut off, the ones who have still manage to make appearances.

What’s with all these ca accounts vying for open revolt.
I live 4 days drive from DC
How far are you from your state legislature? Or from your congressman’s office?
And, again, have you got together with other people to combine your voices?
I’m involved with DSA in my area.
I think we’re talking about different solutions.
Welp I guess that’s it then
It can’t be rebooted until the series finale ends… in civil war.

… What…? Are you a bot?
Everything you don’t agree with is fake and/or AI, yes. See how dumb that sounds?
Honestly not as dumb as thinking everyone born in the last 78 years is selfish.
Generalize much?

I do wear an N95 in public. I had COVID twice and still have long COVID symptoms. I’ve refused to be cavalier with my health since the pandemic.
I also research who companies are owned by and take every step to obtain what I need from oligarchs either second hand or through extralegal means.
Generalizations only hurt you, my anti-capitalist friend.
Edit- correct me if I’m wrong, but how you’re coming across gives really heavy “everyone in the last 78 years is selfish to the core except me” vibes.
Are you the one enlightened soul in the entire benighted race of man?
Lots of I statements in that first sentence.
No, I’m not enlightened - I’m selfish, too (I’m just honest about it).

Good luck out there.
