It’s my belief that the moment human beings are finally able to accept that others will like things differently than they do- will be the moment EVERYTHING clicks into place and a lot of our problems will just disappear.

It can start with irrelevant things like- fruit on pizza, and end with monumentally life affirming things like- who we can love and want to spend our lives with.

Because at The end of the meal- or the day- no one’s life was made worse by the decision another made on behalf of their own.

        Truskawki z makaronem.
A picture of a plate with pasta. The sauce is pink, and there are strawberries over it.

        • 150g pasta. Preferably something that sticks to the sauce better, like fusilli or farfalle. Spaghetti is a bad idea.
        • 500g strawberries
        • 4Tbsp of sugar
        • a drop of vanilla extract
        • 200g sour cream. Yoghurt if you want something healthier.
        1. Boil the pasta as usual, except you’re only adding 1/2 of the salt you’d otherwise use to the water. (You want some salt for the contrast, but not enough to turn this into a savoury dish.)
        2. Clean and chop the strawberries into eights. Then reserve, like, 1/3 of them aside. Mash the rest with the sugar and vanilla extract, add the sour cream, mix everything well.
        3. Add pasta to plate. Then strawberry mix over pasta. Then the reserved strawberries over everything.
        4. [Optional] Chill it before serving.

This should be enough for 2 people. It tastes surprisingly nice.

And upon sharing this recipe, I can hear my ancestors… some rolling in their graves and saying “che schifo”, some giving me a thumbs up, and some asking if I could add yucca meal to the dish (no).

The fact that the sauce isn’t mixed with the pasta before serving is probably the most egregious transgression of that whole thing.

Ah, I stole the pic from some random site. They do it this way because it’s more presentable. But it’s better to spread the “sauce” across the pasta, mix it a bit, and then add the strawberry pieces. (Or add the strawberry pieces and then mix it, your choice.)

When I was a kid, my mom would just straight up blend the strawberries either without anything (for dietary reasons) or with twaróg (cottage cheese)

            twaróg

That’s actually a great idea — gotta try it next time. (I’m almost sure the locally sold keschmier is the same as twaróg, but worst hypothesis homemade requeijão does the trick.)

I finally tried it once a few years ago, and it was good, but if I’m buying, it’s gotta be pepperoni, shrooms and green pepper.

Pineapple on pizza is eddible, but technically so is broccoli and I won’t touch that awful, bitter shit if I can possibly help it.

Broccoli on pizza is a very common thing in Italy. And it is delicious. Broccoli strascinati is popular on pizzas in Rome for example.

Broccoli on pizza is a thing though and it’s actually quite good when done right
