This doesn’t decriminalize it or change its legal status at all. It literally just recognizes it for medicinal use for research purposes.

And yet Obama couldn’t even do that even though he campaigned on doing it.

it lowers the focus on the drug though. cannabis has become a low priority for police and this will likely contribute to even lower. it could be used as an indication of inevitable decriminalization if congress needs something to pretend to agree about.

it’s not changing much but it isn’t without benefits either.

But his approval ratings are in the shitter. This is the best he can do. Nevermind Epstein, healthcare, foreign oil wars, rampant authoritarianism and all that. Weed is popular. Maybe this will keep them happy.

Most people that want weed have it regardless of whether or not it’s legal. This isn’t going to do much for his numbers, if I had to guess. There’s a little benefit to research, but in the grand scheme of things, “insignificantly less illegal and still prohibited” is useless to the average citizen while the economy, the planet, our international relationships, and our ability to feed and shelter ourselves are all on fire. This is so little, so late, it’s clearly a thoughtless ploy to suck those approval ratings out from *under *the toilet and back *into *the toilet bowl.

Don’t stop your opponent from making a mistake / furthering your own cause for you if it’s a net gain. It’s still a step in the right direction. It’s just clear it’s for ratings and nothing else. That man thinks of nothing but himself, this isn’t for you or I.

The beauty of science is its establishment of facts through trial and review. You cannot fake results long term. Unfortunately for us, scientific discipline is presently being ignored. I don’t think this will always be the case; I think it will be the case for a little while yet, until enough tire of it to make a difference. I think that’s finally starting to make an impact. This is an act of desperation, not kindness or progress.

This makes it schedule 3, which basically means a doctor can give it to you without jumping through hoops

It’s definitely going to boost his approval ratings… Just not enough to matter, I bet

No. They closed the hemp-derived THC loophole. If we suddenly get regular non-hemp THC legalized then it’s kind of moot that they have done so.
