UK experts have condemned “fearmongering” in the US after it was reported Donald Trump’s administration will say there is a link between paracetamol use in pregnancy and autism.
Scientists have hit back, with one saying the claim “risks stigmatising families who have autistic children as having brought it on themselves”.
The Wall Street Journal reported that US health secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr is expected to say Tylenol – which is paracetamol in the UK – is a potential cause of autism.
Don’t let silly things like “facts” get in the way of RFK … I’m not sure exactly what he’s doing it why he’s doing it … But he sure won’t let the facts get in the way.
Totally off topic, but you’ve got one of the cutest profile pics I’ve ever seen
Stigamtism isn’t an excuse to hide a link though. They could’ve chosen better quotes, even if the link is indeed bullshit.
There are plenty of quotes in the article, including references to studies which very clearly refute the claim.
Scientists aren’t hiding a link behind the stigmatism of making women think they “caused” their child’s autism. There is no link to hide. It’s bullshit.
As such, it is particularly reprehensible for the scum of this administration to push this quackery. They want to pretend, “autism didn’t exist back then”. Just like they want to pretend ADHD didn’t exist, and trans people didn’t exist, and gay people didn’t exist, etc. They don’t care what lies they have to spew or who they have to hurt to push their anti-science agenda.
