As if the end result wasn’t already obviously bad enough, somehow seeing the original manages to make it worse…

This can’t be real, at no point could any sane person look at that and think, whelp, my job here is done.

But someone might look at that and say “oh shit I’m so bad at my job. I’d better not touch it anymore or I’ll make it even worse”

Would be funny if the same lady was behind this.

She didn’t do the Ronaldo one, someone else did. It would be hilarious if she had done all 3, but I find it equally hilarious that they’ve allowed 3 different people to crap the bed this badly…

Edit: I guess technically the Ronaldo sculpture started out ugly & the correction worked, so maybe it’s not in the same category?

Apparently it’s a Spanish thing. From the article someone posted below (https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/amateur-restorer-botches-carving-spain-180976271/)

Spanish law currently allows amateurs to repair historic artworks—a fact that has led many conservation experts to argue for tighter regulations in the industry.

It’d be extremely hilarious if we didn’t irrevocably destroy a piece of history every time it happens.

Not sure if this is true or not, but I remember reading somewhere that some artists intentionally botch historical art restorations for publicity and to drive more visitors to see it in person

Just another example of derivative imitations saturating the art market.
