It is in a very remote corner of the Northeast Kingdom that is far enough away from industrial centers that dumping wasn’t cost efficient. I actually lived near one of the OG superfund sites in New England, and recall the tanker trucks bombing up and down the road past my house - so when it all broke loose in the late 70’s (and all hell locally DID break loose - Beedee Road Landfill - recieved decades worth of industrial waste from two companies - Davison Rubber and Hooker Chemicals.) we were all… “ahhh, that’s what all that was about…” Then I moved in with different relatives, but have been hyper aware of where in the northeast - to avoid the water from. (Do NOT drink Poland Spring water.) I will always ask the older people who knew what factories and mills were where and what they made.
