Missing in this, both for being broke and the diabetes, is car monoculture. I’ve known several immigrants who thought they were going to get around (in Texas no less!) without a car or be a one car household. A few months later they were all angry at how much they were spending on cars. And fatter, angrier from traffic.

The taxation part of this is a bit of an unfair point. The US allows for an exclusion of ~$150k in foreign earned income if the US citizen qualifies as a bonafide resident of a foreign nation. On top of that, the IRS lets you deduct any taxes paid to a foreign government dollar for dollar against owed US taxes, and since most other developed nations have a higher tax rate, this essentially wipes out your US tax obligations (federal only, some states will still apply taxes separately). The only people actually double paying taxes are the ultra rich, but they obviously don’t pay taxes at all since that’s for the poors 🫩

Obviously, the system is still stupid and overly complicated (why should I even file a return with the IRS when I don’t owe anything?), but it’s not as egregious as this video makes it out to be

How can states claim foreign residents’ tax income? Don’t most of the tax provisions require you to actually reside in that state?

It depends, since all states manage their taxes differently. Usually it’s done via determining ties from the foreign resident to the state in question (e.g. is the resident receiving mail, operating a business, or residing x days of the year in the state?), and taxing on that accordingly. My state doesn’t collect income taxes, so I’m not well suited to speak on this topic.

I mean, just don’t pay taxes to the US. You’re not going to get extradited. The IRS is just as defunded as everything else outside of the war economy. Also, if you’re in Europe, there’s no reason to travel anywhere they may be able to get hands on you. Keep your money inside of the Schengen Area and you’re fine.

Atleast that’s how it’s been working for me in Portugal. Renounced in 2016

Virtually every immigrant I know who’s still in love with this country is much older and came over here when it was still seen as a beacon of light for those in less stable countries.

They also hate all other immigrants and believe they’re superior to them in every way, even if they themselves were undocumented at one point.

Living in the past? Hating people just like them? Immigrants really can assimilate!

The only foreigner I know who still wants to move to the US is a Pole living in Sweden on a work visa so I think there’s just something fundamentally wrong with him.

I heard they get indebted for life for like small medical issues, and their society is all stratified, uneducated, straight up dumb, their infrastructure is crumbling, their rivers are on fire, everybody shoots everyone at all times, they’ve been usurped by a fat pedophile, and they terrorize the rest of the planet with their stank.

But I really want to take my kids to Disneyland so I bought the century pass, which guarantees that my grandchildren will be able to visit the ruins after the nuclear apocalypse with a max 2 hour queue limit!!!

not the ones near me. everything else checks out. also you have to be like a doctor, a lawyer, an accountant, a handyman, etc. outside of your own job because you can’t afford to use professionals and everything is setup for you to do it. At your job you will be berated for wasting to much time with customer issues while workmates you just sorta ghost them so they do it themselves will be praised.

If you look at international statistics, then the USA has actually fewer river fires per capita than other places in the world, like Somalia!
