I think Americans have a subconscious and unsatisfied royalty fetish. Look at all the princesses and princes in children’s cartoons, Hallmark movies and books and so on. Almost every other country is culturally like “ehhh” about kings, but since Americans never had any, they keep edging themselves to these fantasies.
They’re finally learning what comes with it, the abusive and unjustified allocation of power, but not everyone is learning the same lessons or at the same rate…
