Quit fucking with shit. Go underwater, hike a snowy mountain, enjoy the sights, keep your fucking hands to yourself, and don’t approach anything sentient that can’t knowingly consent (except in emergencies).

Not seen any evidence that this is a research diver, and the behavior seems to prove he’s not.

As a diver, fuck this dude. You don’t touch wildlife while diving. If it’s ugly leave it alone, if it’s pretty leave it alone, if it’s unusual leave it alone. They teach everyone this and other divers will call you out on doing this shit.

    Just fucking leave it alone.

I feel like the ink defense might have been a clue that the octopus wasn’t in the mood to be manhandled.

It thought it was being attacked, inked as some do, then tried to get away when he grabbed it. It’s natural response is to then grab and sucker to anything and hold on.

He levers it off a rock and still grabs at it while it’s smokescreening and trying to escape. Hope he actually learned a lesson or next time it should finish the job.

I’d like to say that I appreciate seeing posts with a video embed instead of a YouTube link or other closed platforms.

They’re one of the most armed species, unless you start counting stuff with little bitty arms like bugs.
