At the end of qualifying Friday, three Democrats had entered the U.S. Senate race, and a total of 12 filed to run in the four districts that Republicans currently represent. None came forward with the organized campaign apparatus or financial backing needed to make a serious bid for Congress.
I gotta say, it certainly doesn’t help that one of the only Democrats who has been expressing interest for several months has received so little media attention:

Whatever, if you have so many Republicans running and turning against each other it increases the chances they will inadvertently shoot themselves in the foot and split the Republican vote enough that a Democrat actually stands a chance of people get off their asses right now and start spreading awareness about the primaries on May 16th

James “Jamie” Davis Jr., a farmer whose grandfather was a sharecropper, is the first Democrat to enter Louisiana’s 2026 U.S. Senate race. Davis, an elected member of the Democratic State Central Committee who farms in Tensas Parish and lives in Ferriday, said he is running to restore access to the American Dream that has become out of reach for many in Louisiana.

Three Democrats signed up this week to run in a separate closed party primary. They include Nick Albares, who is from New Orleans and was a policy adviser for Gov. John Bel Edwards; Gary Crockett who owns an aerospace defense business and is from New Orleans; and Jamie Davis, a farmer from northeast Louisiana.
