If I understand correctly the special section of ICE that is in Italy is there only to protect idiots like JD Vance etc. They are absolutely not there for any immigration related issues or law enforcement.
And the Italian authorities said as such making very clear that their agents don’t have any jurisdiction there.
But arent there other Federal agencies that can provide security, like the Secret Service?
Having ICE involved in this thing that is so far out of its mission kind of proves the point that ICE is really Trump’s private army, doesn’t it?
Why would ICE be doing executive protection when they can barely do the extremely limited job that they exist for and we have multiple agencies that are already equipped and trained to actually do that job?
It’s because the people who run ICE won’t ask silly questions like “Is this job within the scope of my department’s mission?” Or “Are there other agencies that are better equipped to do this”.
Or even “Is what Donald Trump asking me us to do legal?”.
They just do what the Boss says.
