The Senate has rejected legislation to extend Affordable Care Act tax credits, essentially guaranteeing that millions of Americans will see a steep rise in costs at the beginning of the year.
Yeah, totally republican ass mentality to want to keep subsidies for people instead of caving on a vote that will totes happen. You ever think ‘their interests’ is having healthcare subsidies? Or do you assume the worst unless someone breaks out the crayons?
Fucking copium, my dude. My family has snap benefits and medicaid, and it would have been in my best long term interests for the government to stay shut down until the republicans caved and let the democrats help people. It was going to be a hard couple of months, but I was hoping my reps would have the stones to fight for their constituents, instead of rolling over (as is tradition) and letting the republicans have another win and take more from the people who have the least.
But hey, good thing they thought of the best interests of the economy and wall street. They’re the real ones hurt during these shutdowns. 🙄
It’s a Republican ass mentality to say it serves me me me. If the user had said it was for the greater good because of subsidies and Trump and what not, I wouldn’t have left the comment I did. But they said it serves me me me and they don’t care about any of the people genuinely affected by the government shutdown.
The opinion is not republican, but the behavior is 100% republican.
Edit: It’s also worth noting my original comment that started all this.
Imagine if the government was still shut down and we still didn’t have these subsidies.
So the user’s reply to that comment was to say he didn’t care about the subsidies or shutdown cause it benefited them.
