Intelligencer political columnist Ross Barkan says President Donald Trump appears to be singing the same old tune from his first term.
“After spending much of the year on a sort of revanchist blitzkrieg that terrified the left and convinced many that his second term would far outpace his first, Trump has begun to genuinely fail,” said Barkan. “And the failure, for those who followed the last time closely, is familiar: Rising autocracy is headed off by rank incompetence.”

Exactly, and Democrats learned their lesson! They will never take a chance on an actual contested primary again. It will look like it’s contested, because there will be several people running, but after the first few primaries most of them will bail and throw their support to the Next One Up, to make sure the desired outcome is achieved.
That would be silly. Obama won and Hillary didn’t.
Yes, that was 16 years ago. Every “contested” primary since then has been engineered to get the Next One Up over the goal line. They did it with Hillary, and with Biden. Then they skipped over the primaries entirely for Harris.
