“Whatever Donald Trump is doing in office, in the minds of Latinos it is not working. They have turned against him in massive, massive numbers,” said CNN data chief Harry Enten on Monday.
Enten pointed out that Trump was nearly tied with 2024 Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris with Latinos on immigration, where the former vice president enjoyed a 2 percentage-point advantage over Trump in October 2024.
Now, Trump has a -38 net approval rating with Latinos on immigration.

Yeah, but betting everything on the moron coup is a terrible plan. American voting systems are weirdly insulated from the federal government because states handle the process almost completely. Its absolutely not guaranteed they can compromise the midterms enough to prevent the complete collapse of their coalition. The GOP definitely does care about its total electoral chances outside of Trump.
They had a bizarrely popular mandate on immigration, all they had to do was be SLIGHTLY reasonable and not harass the huge American latino communities. Its an incredibly stupid and unforced error. They could have shut the borders completely with abject cruelty if they just left the communities who voted for them alone.
Sure, but that would mean letting the people they hate and blame for everything bad ever happening to them, stay in the country. When the end goal is racial purity, you can’t half ass it and let a bunch stay. That would invalidate everything they’re trying to accomplish.
