naming Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio as potential running mates. The president refused to rule out running for a third term himself during the exchange.
From an administration with low favorability ratings, two people with high unfavorability ratings. Foolproof plan. No notes!
The Constitution rules out a third term.
Constitution prohibits a treasonous person from getting the highest position in the country, that didn’t prevent him from doing it.
Lol Marco Rubio still thinks he’s going to ass-kiss his way into the big chair.
Only way Trump isn’t going to be running again is if he gets some insanely bad dirt on the both of them.
Or is dead
Ghouls that they are, I can see the
RepublicansConfederates try to run his corpse “Weekend at Bernie’s” style.
I’m surprised it wouldn’t be the American himmler, Stephan Miller and and the corpse of David Duke.
Your comment had me hopeful that I had missed news about David Duke’s death.
Miller (like most vampires) needs SPF 2000 to go out in daylight so he’s better suited to working behind the scenes.
There are some legal scenarios
under which this could technically happen, but it would be monumental and shocking if the Trump regime could actually manage to wield the coordination and leverage the trust needed to pull it off:Peabody, email to FactCheck.org, Nov. 15: There are actually five fairly clear scenarios through which a twice-elected president could again become or act as president:
Such a person could[:]
(1) serve as Vice President and then become President in the case of removal, death or resignation of the President
(2) serve as Vice President and then act as President during a period in which the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of the Office, as authorized by (a) a written declaration from the President him or herself, or (b) through the VP and a “majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments” or some other authorized body indicating that the President is disabled/unable to discharge the duties of the office (25th Amendment)
(3) become Vice President-elect and then President if “at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President-elect shall have died” (20th Amendment)
(4) become Vice President-elect and then act as President if “a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of [the] term, or if the President-elect shall have failed to qualify” (20th Amendment)
(5) act as President under circumstances provided for by the Succession Act of 1947 which kicks in [when] both the President and the VP are unable to discharge their duties
Despite Vance having the electability of a poke in the eye with a sharp stick, it would be pretty delicious to see him become President with Trump as his VP, only for Vance to refuse to resign. Watching the administration eat itself to get him out would be the height of irony.
But no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.
I don’t know why everyone is saying Trump can backdoor into the Presidency by becoming the VP first, as you can’t become the VP if you’re ineligible for being the President. (Text from the 12th amendment)
edit: originally said 13th, but I intended to say 12th.
I did not know this! Thank you. However, I think you mean the 12th Amendment.
You are correct, edited my post to reflect this.
IIRC Bannons plans require the pres AND the VP to resign. Whoever is next in line at that point is where Bannon imagines Trump
Speaker of the House. Which makes mid-terms all the more important.
