How, even as seasoned veterans of experience, can we preserve a sense of wonder throughout our lives?

. . . truly contemplating the world — truly attending to and feeling wonder for it — can help dissolve the separations we artificially impose upon life.

Your post reminded me this short article, on maintaining wonder and awe through awareness. Its less about the comparison, and more about the appreciation.

To my knowledge, US states may use different terms for municipalities, collections of homesteads, etc. as they wish because of the 10th amendment in the US Constitution, i.e. it’s not explicitly given to the fed government to prescribe the hierarchy. But I’m no expert on this subject, so I could be mistaken.

I had the opportunity to have both whattaburger and in n out the same week during a trip to Arizona.

Whattaburger is so whunderwhelming. My memory of it is that it’s like a big ass frozen patty on a mediocre bun.

In n out had flavor combos popping in my mouth.

It’s a no brainer, to me. My partner used to die on the whattaburger hill, but changed her tune after that trip.

I have one that does this, too.

It usually doesn’t last super long; I get too hot with him near my chest, and he gets antsy if I’m not perfectly still. 🤷‍♂️

And republicans (or, at least one, in my district) are campaigning here on how cashless bail is letting criminals go free.

Cashless bail isn’t letting criminals go free any more than cash-based bail was. I am just as safe. There is nothing to see here, except a more level playing field for all.

Why do the republicans in charge hate people so much? I don’t think their constituents hate people nearly as much as the leaders.

I was an efficiency whore while working management at a big software company.

It sucked in some very specific ways. I didn’t even realize the impact until after I left that environment.

There were some good things from corporate America, too, but they didn’t bring real ultimate power happiness.

In my rural area’s 50 mile radius, there are just gas stations with to-go bags. The gas stations are, at best, convenience stores.

I uninstalled the app after seeing it was just an advertising opportunity for those gas stations.

Alternatively, if they are happy with their pro-grums, familiar with the interface, and not getting gouged worse than the next cable subscriber — consider letting it rest.

From things like being able to punch in a channel number to having the cable company to call for issues, folks in that generation might really prefer paying.

I’m basing this on my years of experience with a now 60-something and now 80-something. YMMV

Poor advice, IMO. Going below BMR is ok, starvation mode is largely a myth, and, while nutrition is important, it is not necessary for caloric-deficit weight loss.

I think you hit the nail on the head.

Where you live is one thing, but how you face the world is another. As we age, it seems that we have increased challenges in the areas you note.

Trust becomes harder. Acknowledging our own faults and cognitive degradations becomes harder. Making decisions becomes harder. And desire to remain autonomous becomes stronger. Those things don’t jive too well.

One more thing to add: maintain a community of similarly-aged peers. Otherwise, one might feel like they are on an island.
