Instead, they used it to fill for-profit prisons with non-violent individuals, mostly black people, while subsidizing & assisting pharmaceutical companies like Purdue Pharma to get richer. At the same time, if you’re rich & white, you’re almost completely immune from equal punishment. If you kill one person, and aren’t rich, you’re a murderer. If you’re rich & powerful though & kill thousands or millions, it’s considered business.
