Where are you getting this? Jerry Only (bass) made a ton of campaign contributions to Trump. Doyle was also a bit of a conservative loon until during the first Trump term, and now he claims to be apolitical. Danzig also claims to be apolitical, but apparently his thing is Jewish conspiracy theories. It’s been common knowledge in punk circles that the Misfits are right-wing.

The Democrats are still stuck in this post-Clinton seniority mindset where they unofficially pick a candidate before primaries even begin, based on who has been around the longest and who has held the highest position. Remember “it’s her turn”? Yes, yes, I know it didn’t work against Obama, but heading into the debates everyone assumed Hillary would be the candidate until Obama put on the better show. More to the point, I think Obama breaking through scared the establishment Dems into doubling down on primary fuckery. See what happened to Bernie, twice. So now we have a president who knows all the right people but plays politics with the 1990s rulebook and has a terminal case of crusty old man voice.
Still better than Trump.

301·7 months agoNo. In the likely event of Trump getting off the hook, you can bet that SCOTUS will come up with some obscure and obfuscated legal hand waving that the judgment pertains to the matter at hand and does not constitute a precedent. The goal isn’t to nullify laws that can be used against the Democrats later, but to keep the Republican nominee in the running, which can only be accomplished by temporarily displacing the law.
the Sookie Stackhouse novels vs. True Blood. the show got dumb but the books go off in so many more ridiculous directions. I quit watching the show after 3 seasons because the repetitive sex/violence juxtaposition got to be boring, but I still have to recognize that the show writers at least had restraint. also, Charlaine Harris writes like my foot
Maybe because the Russians backed him as their candidate in 2016, 2020, and now in 2024 (the enemy of my enemy and all that), the Russians have been buying Republican support wholesale since at least then, the Republicans have always valued money and power over all else, and the few Republicans who had qualms about it are long gone?
Just some ideas.
