Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Whats a good alternative to Instagram?English
1·16 days agoVery good point. Well for instagram, I only go on there to post on my account and do very little scrolling and that’s it, im off my phone. I’ll be there to just post on my account when I find something suitable. I’ve been pushing myself away from all this media unless its like trustworthy news

2·16 days agoLike Google unfortunately uses RCS and everyone i know uses RCS because either they have apple or are using Google messages with RCS. So if I was to go to Signal for example, would my chats transfer over or would I have to start over because RCS is not used?

4·17 days agoCan someone easily merge from Google Messages to Signal? I’ve heard of signal and im also looking for another message alternative; more so for that and insta. Pixelfed is really catching my eye for insta.

2·17 days agoI haven’t gotten deep into self hosting yet, even though i do wanna try that with Jellyfin. For the insta alternative I prefer just posting and interacting with others.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is the comment system on lemmy so weird?English
13·19 days agoFirst off, I didn’t degoogle the new phone I got. I brought it from Muera cause I didn’t want to go through the debacle of the “finding the exact model number” requirement when it comes to installing some of these OS systems.
Also, this is my first time on Lemmy. Never been here before and just checking it out. I am just exploring their different UI until I found one that’s the most comfortable to me. Not a pro at this at all.
And most don’t have that knowledge of looking at those technicalities, I know I dont. You people on some of these techy platforms really need to stop assuming that everyone knows everything about hardware/software of tech.
If your really butthurt over a rookie ass question, that’s a you problem. Along with it being just a comment on how I just didn’t like how the interface looked. Grow up.

12·19 days agoMy bad, I meant changing the look of the icons for what they are, when I say switch. Idk… maybe its because I’m so used to big tech media.
now that option for the 3 dots is a better idea so the pop up does appear better. Currently, It appears on the screen as if some options are cut off when you click on it.

what’s in the circle is what i’m talking about. The arrow is to directly comment you while the 3 dots is to either send you a private message, share a post/link or to report someone or something. I wouldn’t think the arrow would mean to comment until I click it. That looks more like a “reshare” button.

14·20 days agoI picked blorp due to how the posts are layered out. Its like a slower version of twitter. I use firefox too on PC, but yeah this is something I definitely gotta get used to.

2·20 days agoI use one called Urik Keyboard. Words turn red when you misspell something, its an interesting keyboard, still getting used to it.

I wonder about that too. Sometimes some ideas don’t just come from thin air, they’re created for a reason.
