I was gonna edit the comment to add a similar note right after posting but I was already half asleep and apparently I didn’t do it.

Portuguese, we do and we use it in everything. Even something simple like “for my Father” most of us say “for the my Father”.

“Sou filho do meu pai”

Translating literally becomes:

“am son of the my Father”

And then there’s their child:

“fuck I still haven’t done that. I need to do it soon. It can be later, but I need to do it. It’s been months already, anytime now someone is gonna complain I didn’t do it. Hopefully this week I will”

“Push” sounds exactly the same as the word for “Pull” in Portuguese (Puxe)

The malware is not on react-native, but react-native-aria. A “copy” of Adobe’s react-aria libs.

Autistic people will often do the right thing simply because they were taught it is what they are supposed to do - with no consideration of how they’ll feel about it.

And ADHD people don’t get to feel good about anything they do.

I think it can go either way. This sort of thinking is based a lot more on your life experience than your genetics.

The script feels terrible and they don’t even try to make you like the characters. But the jokes always land perfectly. It’s a great movie to have a laugh and nothing else.

Right wingers love to claim that that judge is being authoritarian, ignoring the facts that:

1. He was picked at random to oversee every case related to the coup attempt.
2. The whole court is constantly reviewing all of his actions and are yet to find any wrongdoing.

Usually none. I only have an inner monologue when I explicitly want to have one and in that case it works just like talking: I can use any language I want.

Not cried, but Trevor Moore’s death shook me as that was the first time someone I enjoyed the work of died while I was still expecting to see more work from them in the future.

Not this time, but I do have another story many years later when I stepped on a sickle and cut my toe, then after getting bandages I resumed what I was doing and stepped on it again, on the same toe. But the second time didn’t leave any cut.

No idea.

As a kid (+/- 7yo) I saw a huge ass nail hanging out from some broken piece of wood laying in the school yard and thought: “I’ll make a hole in my slipper”, so I hovered my foot over the nail, but that didn’t do it. “Oh I need to put pressure on it”.

In my head I thought I was making an arch with my foot so that I would only put weight on the front and back of the slipper and the nail wouldn’t hit me. Only in my head.

So I stepped on the nail, injuring myself. I then went to an adult. After patching my foot they asked me to go find the nail and throw it in the trash, before anyone else steps on it too.

The piece of wood was too big for me to handle, so I thought: “nobody is gonna be stupid enough to step on that” and left it there.

HEEHAW!

Search WAS good when it was a simple search. Sites were indexed by the search engine and if you searched for the words you wanted to find, the results would be exactly that. In that context, it worked perfectly.

But the problem was that most people used search engines in a different way. They weren’t searching for specific content, but searching for answers to questions. And for that, search engines would only show results that had that same question and then you’d need to hope that the question had been answered.

Over time, search engines kept shifting into trying to better support the questions and answers format, making the basic content search worse as a result. Where we are now, neither or them works too well. Google is now better at understanding what people are trying to search, but worse at finding it.

AI is just expanding this with yet another layer: it might make Google better at understanding what you search and maybe even might be better at finding it than the engine is now, but it’ll add the ability to misinterpret the results too.

Honestly I’d be pretty happy if I had a simple indexed search again.
