Childcare is definitely expensive there, but I don’t think that’s unique to Ireland. Sure as shit beats raising kids in the US considering they have universal healthcare, free preschool, paid maternity and paternity, and low violent crime rates. Cost of living and housing availability are definitely issues though.
I love it over there; I’d consider emigrating if they’d take me

That’s the gist of it. They’re very pro-business, and beyond that are pretty milquetoast. Typical catch all party that will chameleon into whatever is popular at the moment. That’s my take as an outsider, at least. I’m sure someone that lives in Ireland could speak with more authority on the matter.

I’d tell em to read about Finna Fail but I don’t want to disappoint them.

I’d love to as well, minus the weather. The number of Palestinian flags out and about literally all across the country when I was visiting last month was really heartening. Definitely a nation that knows what their soul is and is not complacent.

Sure is! Catherine has some big shoes to fill because “Miggeldy” is beloved. The fact that she can ball helps.

Ireland’s current president that she’s replacing is also fairly left wing. It’s a ceremonial position for the most part. The head of the Irish government is the Taoiseach which is essentially the PM. The president is just the head of state.

Not to my knowledge. Irish never stopped being the language of daily life in parts of west Ireland and as far as I know the resurgence of the language started in the 1800’s with the Gaelic League and the Society for the Preservation of the Irish Language. I wouldn’t be surprised if the latter did some work on codifying certain things into a conventional framework but I’m definitely over my skis at this point.

It’s Irish, they have their own language that the Brits tried to stomp out but thankfully is still here. Regardless, good luck on your new state

The president in Ireland is more of a head of state than a policy maker. The head of the government is the Taoiseach which is basically the PM.

They were traffickers. Source: trust me bro
I’m not an equestrian by any means, but it’s been nice to see your positive impact on a living creature. Good job!

Maybe read the article next time, bud.

Especially for something as easy to get as drm free ebooks. There are ways to support authors without giving Amazon money

Dude needs to look at a fucking map; the straight of Gibraltar is an important choke point and that little sliver of it the Brits control isn’t as good as having Spain included in your alliance.

The reason I don’t think that will happen is he needs his evangelical base and they’re obsessed with full support for Israel because they desperately want the temple in Jerusalem rebuilt because they think it’ll bring about the end times.

Fair enough, I just haven’t meaningfully seen any reduction in US support for Israel in my entire life. I’d like to be wrong fwiw

I don’t share your optimism
I can’t imagine what that sounds like and feels like for the engineer
