The stereotypical “9 to 5” is an 8 hour shift with a paid hour “lunch break”. This includes two 10-15 minute breaks, which are also paid. You come to work at 9, do work, take breaks, take lunch, and then leave at 5. That’s 8 hours.

My job is 8 to 430. I come in at 8, work till 12, then I have a half hour unpaid lunch. The unpaid lunch means I cannot be required to stay on site, which can happen with a paid lunch. Then from 1230 to 430 I work until I go home. There are two 10 minute paid breaks in there. I work 8 hours total in an 8.5 hour work day.

A tip i learned with my most recent cat is getting the food and water up off the floor. Helps them swallow better. And the flatter the plate you give them their food on, the better. Cats can be extremely fussy over anything touching their whiskers, so anything you can do to help them with that they’ll appreciate.

That would be the wrong approach. First big problem is that cops or anyone else can wear gloves. Second, you aren’t really trying to prove who owned the drugs. You would be interested in proving that the space in which the drugs were found previously did not contain the drugs before the cops “found” them. That’s why bodycams are super important. Most evidence tampering cases boil down to “spot was clearly empty before cop mysteriously produces drugs from the same spot”

Just had a talk about this exact topic in an interviewer today. Talked about how a growing number of companies on my resume no longer exist, and the guy interviewing me said he had the same thing. Well that’s not true. It’s just a real bitch. As a welder, helium leak check is about the toughest damn QC to pass. Most welding QC has some reasonable margin for error during inspection, but the damn helium doesn’t care. You can have a beautiful weld with a tiny imperfection at the start or end and it’ll piss helium just as badly as an entirely scuffed bead.

As a welder, much of my work straddles the line between art and mass production. I’ve made many, many beautiful welds that will never been seen by another person for at least the next 20 years, if ever. Some of the best that come to mind are stainless steel welds on industrial equipment that get buried under paint or insulation. I spent 3 years welding parts for US battleships and Navy cruisers as well as the occasional weird airforce part. Most of those welds will never been seen by living people after leaving my old shop.

Welder here. Aluminum oxide inhalation is correlated with an increased risk for alzheimers, not cancer. Hexavalent chromium is a carcinogen, and that comes from heating up stainless steels. So you are actively replacing a relatively non toxic oxide with the potential for an actually toxic carcinogenic gaseous metal, assuming your pocket knife is some sort of stainless steel (statistically very likely).

Persons is a set of individuals while people generally implies a group. “Those people” as a phrase carries negative connotations because of its use by racists pretending to be not quite as racist.

You can use them interchangeably as long as you’re trying to imply the person’s you are referring to are linked or similar in some way.

This has always struck me as a dumb argument. Before “intellectual property” innovation was just technological advancement. Patenting is just enabling punishment against actual innovators. I am a welder. I make things. If I set out to make a stove, I don’t give a shit who patented what fuel distribution system or air intake methodology, I’m gonna make a damn stove. The entire concept of being able to exclusively “own” a design or concept is reductive to human learning as a whole.

Abolish police entirely and mobilize the NG into law enforcement. The rules of engagement alone is miles better than the policy shit police forces have now, and cops are all already carrying or being supplied with military gear anyways. If we already have a militarized police force, why not cut out the middle man and turn our actual military into the police force?

As a Californian, do not look to our state for police reform. IMO the best example is Colorado removing qualified immunity. Discipline doesn’t work and the system refuses to jail their own, so you gotta hit them financially. Bankrupting shitty little town police forces either forces reform or kicks authority up to the state, which is more regimented in its regulation. Either way it’s putting bad cops out of a job.

Honestly legal immunity needs to go as a concept. It might be annoying for judges to fight off lawsuits, but fuckem. They’re paid damn well and they have the time. Judges are public servants, not public sovereigns. Some of them need to be reminded of this fact, and lawsuits are a good way of opening crusty conservative eyes. And the entire civil suit system needs to be simplified into plain English so that the average citizen can use it. This legalese fuckery was designed from the start to disadvantage uneducated people. That’s downright un-American. The ruling class has forgotten that this is the land of the free, not the land of the fee.

You have sub quality drug dealers. My dude flips cars on the side of his hustle so he always has something nice to drive. He’s a fan of rare models, so his latest is a Saab something or other with all the goodies including 4wd and a ls9 under the hood.

Other than that he’s got a nice little house in the burbs. Nothing big or fancy. Just a normal 2 bedroom place with a small yard.
