

I’ve seen this behavior for the last 20 years. Every release of Windows claims it’s the fastest yet. And in 3-5 years everybody hates how slow they and demand new computers. Its funny because, it’s just accepted. Everybody assumes that computers get old and slow. I’m just going to go out on a limb and say, Windows OS gets slow after 3-5 years and it’s planned obsolescence from Microsoft. Sadly, 90% of users can’t be bothered to care that they’re getting ripped off.






I install my OS and gui with system packages (minimal setup mostly) and everything else with flatpaks. It’s not perfect. There’s bloat and cleanup evolved, and some packages I didn’t trust. And sometimes you still need to build an app from source. But it fixed a bunch of issues you mentioned. It’s also nice to limit permissions on apps.
