I’m still not sure what’s the difference between Hot and Active. ELI5, anybody?

I wish Hot had a bit less post decay, it would be close to perfect then. Active doesn’t surface new posts often enough for me

      Hot definitely needs more tweaking.

Every once in awhile, a post from months or years ago will sneak its way into your feed using Hot.

A tip if you’re used to old reddit and use desktop, check out old.lemmy.world. It as a dark mode like reddit enhancement suite adds to old reddit, and everything is exactly where I expect it to be based on my reddit experience. Since you’re already using a lemmy.world account, it’ll just work for you straight away.

Oh and also, you’ll see that you can list things as “all,” “local,” or “subscribed.” You can pretty much ignore local, and use all or subscribed as your main page.

This! Lemmy became so much comfortable by using old.lemmy.world, almost all withdrawal symptoms went away.

Top 12h for All, New for Local(small, country specific instance).

Who use Active anyway? I have no idea what’s that for. Because it looks and function very similar to New Comment. Hot is just New but also…Active? Because it will show both new content and also post from days or even weeks ago lol

I’m the kind of person thats comfortable with scrolling past hardcore porn on a crowded bus. I’m not a religious man, it’s just nature taking it’s course.

In the city worst things than that have happened and no one bats an eye. I’ve seen a homeless man wash his junk in the quick trip sink. I’ve seen a crate of homemade molotov cocktails just setting on the front porch. I’ve witnessed someone pull a gun out on someone else just for honking in traffic.

Idk, I don’t know why it’s a problem for you and I don’t really care. I’m kinda bored of the subject anyway.😁

Nah, dont worry about it, its no problem. Just pointed out that i thought it was kinda random. If yah wanna keep talking then i can hear ya. Cities can be kinda wild sometimes. The one im at right now has had wild shit happened like bombings on multiple gas stations in the same day. A bridge was taken by the river with people on it and i once took a buss and it ran over a biker in a motorcicle.

Incidentally, certain sorts have more porn than others. Active has less, hot has more, and that’s probably due to the fact that it’s stupid to comment on porn posts. With timed sorts, you can also get some sorts with more or less of it.
