Stunning rebuke to president as lawmakers vote 215-208 for measure forcing him to seek congressional approval
The US House of Representatives delivered a stunning rebuke to Donald Trump over his war on Iran on Wednesday, as representatives backed a move to force him to seek approval from Congress or withdraw US forces.
The House voted 215 to 208 in favor of the war powers resolution, as four Republicans voted with Democrats.
Wednesday’s vote came nearly two weeks after House Republicans cancelled an earlier scheduled vote, on the grounds that they lacked the votes to defeat it.
That is not an answer for the question
So, either the Democrats will need to compromise somewhere to entice Republicans to bend, appeal to the masses to try shaming their oppositional cohorts into action, or something else.
I think that CW is trying to say that the Republicans need to recognize that their own existence in legislation has been called into question. To expand on what they are not discussing, this president is making policy and declaring war. These are the essential functions of our legislative branch.
I keep telling you we need a big goal line stop from the defense, and you keep asking me what I want our running back to do about it. The fact that running backs aren’t going to make big defensive tackles doesn’t reduce the need for the defense to make a play.
